I believe they are standard. Which ever ones came with the car factory.

Good as the HIDs are very expensive. A few members converted to HIDs. Maybe they'll see this thread. They probably have their old lights.

I don't know how badly your CTS headlights are scratched or pitted, but you also have the alternative of polishing them out. Here is but one solution:

they are pitted pretty bad from the first owner taking it through cheap car washes.

Due to that and the small size of the surface it will probably easier to replace them....

hopefully those folks Robert mentioned with the HID lights can sell me their old ones

I see you have an '03 and that peeling, pitting problem happens to the "03s. You may wanna see if you can sand them out with 1000 grit wet/dry sand paper and finish with polishing compound. It's sure a lot easier and cheaper.

I find it kinda weird that the actual headlight housing is different whether you have HID's or not. I would think the housing is the same.

Cerillo, Do you have warrenty left on this car. They're covered under the warrenty. I'm getting mine in a couple of weeks.

Is this really covered under the warranty? I didn't think cosmetic damage such as peeling on the headlights was completely covered. Figured it was just normal wear and tear. Well that's certainly good to hear! I just made a down payment on a 03 and I had already made plans to wet-sand the right headlight...also, are both of your headlights gritty...or just one?

Yes the warranty will cover it. Several members have had them repaired. You don't need new ones.

Are they pitted/scratched, or is it the coating coming off? Haven't some folks been successful in getting the dealer to replace or resurface the headlight modules?

Both. On the right side, theres like 2 scratches that are about 4 mm thick. And there is definite peeling action towards the top...like the coating is comming off. but the right side looks 100% brand new...not the slightest haze or scratch...:suspect:

Also, The dealer told me by buying the car, he would see if he could work out a cheap deal with cadillac to get the right headlight replaced...as in....I would still have to pay him extra on top of the price of the car....but apparently it would be a good discount...:suspect: I'm glad I came here! Now i know to tell that guy to take his extra headlight charge and shove it up....uhhh..up places

I have an early 04, both lights peeling on the top of the lens. Warranty covered the repair to the lens. They had a guy repair the existing lens, it came out great. 2000 grit wet sand paper should smooth it out if your out of luck on the warranty. After the wet sand use a gentle touch with the polishing compound to gloss it and then heavy on the wax. Synthetic like Zano or the New Nanowax should work great for the sale.

Sounds like your on the right path now! Pitting is one thing, but they are never suppossed to peel.
