I was wondering if there is a TSB for a certain part, will it be covered after warranty is up?? I dont see why it wouldnt since a TSB is a known problem, so it should not matter if the car went out of warranty...

Anyways I was reading this :

http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/SavingandDebt/SaveonaCar/20waysYouWasteMoneyOnYourCar.aspx

and I came across this:

Not complaining when your warranty claim is rejected. Check Alldata and the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA) to see if a technical service bulletin (TSB) has been issued about the component in question. Manufacturers often will repair known defects outside the warranty period (sometimes called a secret warranty). It helps if you’ve done your homework and haven’t been a jerk.

The reason I ask this is my outside B pillar trim is fading and there is a TSB for the 03's to replace the trim with the 04 and up black plastic trim...but I went out of warranty about 2-3 months ago, I dont see why it matters I went out of warranty if its something that is a known problem.

I don't have an answer to your question really, but I think people who have done the switch actually prefer the looks of the 03 pillars. From what I understand, if you are having a problem with fading or coloring issues, just grab some aluminum polish and polish those babies up till they look like new

They did a special on the Fine Living Channel just last night about expiring warranties. You do have courses you can take. It can involve an arbitrator or dealing directly with GM but its a real hastle. Here's the Customer Service e-mail address and phone number. Maybe you all should save this info. Give it a try.

TSBs are not "known problems" they are diagnostic aids.
Special policies are good beyond the factory warranty but often have limits.
Campaigns or "recalls" are usually good for the life of the vehicle until completed. There are exceptions.

Don't shoot the messenger okay... but the short answer is no.

Now... remember the dealership CAN choose to do it for you for a certain period beyond the manufacturer's warranty. They don't HAVE to.

GM bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, NOT a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform these technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions, and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, DO NOT assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See your GM dealer for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.

TSB's aren't warranty issues, just repair issues, they aren't like recalls or something, think of them as service manual updates. They can offer free replacemnts, etc, but they not necessarily.
