is there any other holes that need to be drilled to install a custom E&G grille? Them big big "castle" grills.

Found one cheap that i will pick up. But i dont want to drill any more holes in the header that will show if i put the oem one back on.

I don't think so, but it will rub on the paint around the edges, so if you ever take it off you will have to repaint the header.

i just bought an e&g on ebay and it should take bout a week or 2 to get here. its made specifically for the 90-92 brougham, they told me that no adjustment is needed for it. if you have gotten the grill for 89 and under, then those will need adjustments made to make it fit.

I went to the site to look for a grill for my 91 Fleetwood Brougham and none were listed, do they have the Rolls Royce-like grills for my year of Caddy? Any links would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks

You are not alone.... trust me.

yes they make them for the '77-'79 style(I should know, I have one) I've seen E&G classics make them, but the best ones are the ones that came as a dealer add on originaly, thats what I have, and they are really rare, I've seen two go on ebay for around $1,000 - $1,500, so if you are worried about $$$ go with E&G, but if you want quality, go with original.

i emailed E&G, they still havent replied to my email. the lowest one ive seen them make is 80, if you ever see another on ebay or anything, please let me know.

I haven't seen them make one recently, it was a couple years ago, so they probably are out of production. yeah, ebay is a good place to look, I'll keep my eye open.

Thanks for the links 1990 CB, but the first link was only for 80-89 years and mine is a 91.

The second link was cool, but I rather buy a new one, then spend a couple of hundred on that rust bucket, hahahahaha (although it's cool from the front).

I just can't get with gold grills or rims, just not my particular cup of tea, lol.
But again thanks for the links....greatly appreciated.

WEll i got the grille Friday.... My was it a BEAUTIE!! ThE chrome and gold is in GREAT shape... Toook my factory grille off and just placed this one in palce....

Its def bling blinging..... and looks nice. But I dont know if its me. ITs liek its the center of attention and takes away from the car its beauty... so im thinking of not putting it on.

In the time i got to thik about it the caddy will be cruising no grill or surround. Kinda white trash looking. But i think the OEM grille will go back on in a aday or 2.

:) there is my OEM lady.....

Any one notice my "headlight visors"? Like you can put on the older cars with the 4 rectanglular lights

if you got a set of vogues it would all balance out :)

But I have to say, I know what you mean about the grille sort of taking something from the overall impression when somebody looks at the car, your eyes just sort of see this huge grille... with a car attached to it. thats why I'll probably take the one off the '79 when I get it repainted.

P.S. the visors look pimp (in a good way) how did you do them? the trucker gals on the grille are cool too.

Nothing beats a big classy grill on a caddy. Its the best addition to my caddy since I got her

I think they look better on the '80-'92 bodystyle than on the '77-'79. the way the bumper sort of dips down infront of the grille sort of helps it blend it, and the headlights are higher, that also helps.

im jealous.

i contacted E&G, they did stop the production on any castle grills pre 1980 for caddy's.

going to have to find an 80 and see how much different they are, maybe i can make it work somehow.

I've seen people cut off the lower part of an '80s Eldorado grille to shorten it, and put that on a '79, it looks ok. that might be easier.

No, I don't care for them either. What I want is someone to make a chrome wire mash grille like the ones you see on the Escalade, SRX, and others.

I've contacted a couple of vendors, but they tell me is't no chance for the Fleetwood to see new grille designs.

Theres a guy on cardomain.com that did that to his early '80s Coupe Deville, he took an E&G classics grille, took the bars out and put in mesh. looks niiice.

Mine is the same as pictured, but with gold teeth. I found a source with 4 sets of factory like new wire wheels (16 wheels total of a funeral homes hearse and limos from the 90's) If i can get a set or all i will put them on with vouges. Then if i still have the grille i will see what it looks like. IF i still have it..

I'm looking for an all-chrome vertical grill for my 91 Brougham, is there any that will fit? Attached is a pic of my current factory grill.

I love Big Blue's grill. That's the one I'm looking for, but is it an E&G grille?

Thanks for the compliment and yes it is E&G. I got it from a junkyard in Nj and had it re chromed a few years back. In fact I had it longer then I had this caddy as if it was waiting for her to come into my life. Check Junkyards that the best way to get them. You will just have to restore which can turn out better then any one you can every buy.

Big Blue what color is your Caddy. That is a beautiful color. I'm not really feeling my present color, because everyone has a brown, white, or navy blue Caddy and the color of your car is bangin'

Big_Blue
06-27-06, 07:57 PM
Its a silver/grey with a blue tint from the 1974 Ford color list. I wanted the color to match the top. I was attempting to bring the OG pimp colors. In fact when I first painted the car everyone hated even myself but after a few days it darken like a sun tan. I think the wide white walls is what really carries the color to another level in my opinon.

Thank you for the Compliement.

216caddypimp you should try some stiffer and 1 1/2 inch taller springs since thats whata gonna push your car higher up and keep it from rubbing against 20's. I changed my shocks to support the stiffer springs so they smooth out the bounce but they did nothing to push the rear up higher.

Yea on my old 85 Caddy, I had 22s on there and had taller springs and I had air shocks in the back to raise it up a tad bit. I will be doing the same with this new Caddy and add the shocks this time. because I felt every nook and crannie in the road. What is the best shocks I should get and I was told that I should get bigger brake pads since my rims are bigger. I want to get new breaks, but can't afford those Brakes that cost over a couple of G's unless there are some that are comparable in effectiveness, do you know if any?

I used chevy truck shocks with a coil overs in the rear and some shocks with springs for the front in addition to the heavy duty front springs.. The rear has a adjusting spring so I could I guess stiffen the shock or boost the car up. I have chevy springs in the rear sprayed with Deadmat or something the guy sprayed on them so I dont hear the coil noise and they dont shimmy to get unneccessary vibration. I still feel the road at times espicially in the front. But I dont like the 20's as much since I am a white wall fan more. The rims that I own dont look well with white walls.

I just purchased some 13 double d dayton knock offs with 5 or since in depth with 2 1/4 white walls. I cant wait to get them balanced and mounted. I need a 1 inch spacer I think to clear the brakes in the front
