Talked to sales guy this afternoon and he said the 2007 Vs were already showing up. ( He commented how they were using the LS2 )

Anyone seen or heard they are already delivering them in roughly 6 months since delivering the 06s ?

You have got to be kidding me? They didn't get an '06 into the area until January...

The good news - orange peel and sagging paint are still standard on 2007s. Click the photo of the rear V emblem. :rant2:

Well I can see the Gas Guzzler tax is back..... Wonder what makes an 07 with an LS2 guzzle more gas than a 06 with an LS2 ?

Tower cross brace looks different than my 05, but I haven't seen an 06 with the hood up so I can't comment there.

look at the mileage, for 2006 they were rated 16 city / 25 hwy and in 07 it is the same as 05 15 city / 24 hwy

Bah, must be the difference in the paint weight. ;) (good catch)

I never look at mileage in a vehicle that's rated as performance with high horsepower. It's a given it will probably suck.

One huge question. Why so early? Are they getting these cars on the street so they can start readying for the redesign of 08?

Model year switchover has always been this time of year for the CTS. Plant switches in mid-May and cars start hitting the streets soon after. My '05 V was built in early June of 2004.

Ok, so what happened last year? Was it just the new diff and the mildly redesigned rear cradle? Cars did not hit the showroom until last November if I remember correctly.

That's my guess. Looks like there will be some serious retooling/redesign for 08. So they go ahead and produce the 07s and get them out the door to shut down the line and set up for the new model.

Which brings up the question, I wonder how many are/were produced as 06 models ? A light production run compared to 04/05 and possibly 07 ?

So, does that mean that there will not be a V in '08? I can't see Caddy putting a new CTS and a V in the same model year...

And, could it be that there is a light run for '06/'07 because the Vs are not selling well?

From reading my MT last night, it says that there will be a V in 08 and probably will not be released until well after the normal CTS is released.

There was a delay for 2006 Vs probably due to the new engine, differential and transmission changes which pushed it out to Sept. 2006. With no big changes for 2007, the change over is already done and they're coming off the line.

We'll probably see the 2008s (no V) about a year from now. Plenty of time for GM to build 50,000 to 70,000 CTS's for the 2007 model year.

There's no mad rush; this time of year has always been the model change over period for the CTS.

The next V will be in 2009 if at all.

As I read the Motor Trend blurb, it says the "new CTS will arrive earlier than the traditional fall 2007 timeframe", which I translate to an early 2008 model. CTS-V will likely appear in 2008, which I translate to mean a 2009 model. MT says it will probably be powered by the 505 horse LS-7.

Intersting, but still a long way off, so its anyone's guess.

Daytripper, exactly. I see they said that the spy photo floating around was that of a tuner V. Interesting.

Hurricane Katrina delayed some of the cars for 2006. several sat around cause there were no available rail cars to transport. then there was also a delay with the STS-V diff which we have.
