I'm looking to install a couple of LCD headrests in my 07 Escalade.
1st row and 2nd row.

I already have the flip down but my wife doesn't like it when driving.

Thus I need to install headrest monitors now.
Can someone tell me if they have done this? Will 7" fit both front and back?

Anyone know of Pyramid M70TFT screens?
How about Pyle PLVS7HM?
I also foun dSony Xplog XVM H65, is this any good?

Any feedback on monitors etc would be great or if these are too big for the headrest?

Thanks!

Try These:

They are the factory Cadillac headrest monitors they run about $1,600 for two. The DVD players are mounted inside the 7" monitors......

From Cadillac.com:

DVD Rear-Seat Entertainment System
Make time fly for your rear-seat passengers with a DVD Rear-Seat Entertainment system. The LCD monitors and DVD players are mounted on the rear of the front-seat headrests. Wireless headphones allow rear passengers to enjoy the audio program without disturbing other passengers or the driver.

They also come with headrest covers to cover them up. Also with these and the flip down monitor, you could have 3 different movies running at the same time!

$1,200 is expensive. I would have it done professionally for half that, if that (per two headrests). I would check out the Audiovox headrests. Thats what i'm putting in my dash and replacing my Pioneer headrest monitors with. I get their stuff at cost, but even that - their prices aren't that expensive!! Great products.

Don't now about the 07's yet but I have done about 16 sets for the 02-06 escalade and they are fairly easy to do. I use farenheit monitors but any true tft monitor with a good resolution will do. one thing to keep in mind when building your own is headphone jacks, no phone jacks or infared all screens are different and some dont offer any audio out so if you need it make sure on that. other than that its pretty straight forward just pick up a extra set of headrests off of ebay for your first set. just in case, thats what i did 4 years ago and ended up using them for another set. as for your direct question again on 07's not sure but the 02-06 can all fit 7in so I would assume the 07's are setup with pretty much the same headrests on each row.

Spending $1600 is too much! I've already spent on a KVH sat! :)
Actually my neighboor put farenheit 7" monitor into his hummer.
A local shop quotes me $300 a piece installed. Maybe I'll but them off the net somewhere cheap and see what he would charge for just labor.
My only concern is the resolution of the farenheit. I assume you have not had any issues? I guess with only 7" screen the resolution is not an issue.

As far as headphones.. I plan to use the same headphones (wireless) that comes with the built in panasonic system that my 07 came with.

That’s a lot of money. You can get a nice set of 9" headrests for much less.

I will agree that $1,600 is a lot of money, but for what you are getting I don’t think it is all that bad......

You get 2 headrest monitors, each with their own separate DVD player (internal to the monitor), a remote, and two wireless headsets. Each monitor/DVD player combo comes with AUX jacks. The potential combinations are endless. You can have 3 different movies going at one time, or you can have a playstation2 and a movie, and a camcorder going all at once.....so forth and so on. And the monitors I recommended are covered under GM warranty.

I will agree however, there are lower price alternatives available.

As far as the resolution on the farenheit monitors its great for a 7inch thats basically all we use for our installs and to be honest we buy them off ebay somehow they are cheaper than our distributor the basic model T-7000MHR can be picked up for 109.00 a piece and around 20 bucks shipping. about 6 dollars more than my cost from dist. but once they put shipping on its cheaper to go this route. its a good, cost effective solution if you dont need audio out. we charge 650 a set and would be happy to build them for you but I've got to be honest if you buy an extra set of headrests off ebay or wherever you will find this is a very easy process that you could end up having the costs of your screens and a spare headrest and thats it. we can turn out a set of headrest in about 45min to an hour. We deal mainly in bodywork, wheel/tire and audio and tell anyone looking for headrest monitors if they dont want to mess with it or have doubts that we can do it but pretty much anyone could do these at least on the escalade headrests there are a few out there that are a challenge.

Yes they will fit. I think we can fit up to 9" without any major mods. Good luck

The cadillac ones are cool... When you have no DVD in the Cadillac Emblem is displayed... They litteraly just plug in... You remove the back panel of the seat and do some crap and bam you got picture.

My latest problem: I went with the 7" Ferenheit monitors. Screen looks good, but they don't tilt down. Because the way the escalade 07 headrests tilt forward my kids complain that they can't see the screen good and want me to tilt it down! Well I can't because the headrest is fixed and so is the monitor. Now I will have to look for a monitor that tilts down. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

That is a tough situation, I have mine tilted all the way forward and the seat slightly leaned back and they are perfect eye level with the daughter in the backseat. Although me being 6'5 the tilting back of the seat works might not for all. I don't know of any monitors out there that actually tilt in that manner. If you did them yourself one option you might be able to do would be a mold. We did one on a Mercedes Kompressor last year that turned out alright. This depends on the vehicle if done right it can come out looking good or like crap just a trial and error thing but pretty simple. Pull the headrest back out and take some of the foam that was pulled out or find some other foam and place it under the leather around the edges of the top and sides for the optimal tilt then when you screw the screen back in it should compress and make a mold of how the foam was cut either square or rounded. This would only be good for a .25 inch or less any thing more is going to look a little rough as it would be petruding to far out of the headrest. The way the farenheit monitors are set up you could also make them tilt although it would require some interesting engineering, never done it but would try anything when I get to the shop tomorrow I will pull one of mine out and see if I come up with anything thats easy, and still holds the look of the vehicle.

Myron and Davis brand monitors come with the tilting feature. Circuit City sells the completed headrest units. You should be able to find them online.

Sloppy, Thanks for the insight.. I'm 6'1 and like having my seat back. My wife on the other hand doesn't.
The shop where I bought it is looking to do options...
I'd be interested to learn of any options you come up with. My 07 escalade already has KVH SAT so as you can see I'm going to the high tech way. Now I just need to apease my two kids!

Ranger, I'll have to check those out too.

Thanks
