I have the sport luxury package with fe3's in the back, I created custom brackets about 1.5 years ago to lower the rear end (before the lowering was a hot topic on this forum, I created my own way to keep the rear shocks lowered to where I wanted them). Anyways my one shock is starting to wear out and I will need to replace them in the near future(lots of miles on these + terrible road conditions around my city). Anyways, an aquaintance at a local cadillac dealer is willing to sell me a set of new unused fe1 soft rides for 75 bucks they are for the 2004 but I am guessing they would still work on my 03. My question is, if I were to install these shocks replacing my fe3 nivomats and remove the custom brackets I made how low would these sit? The same ride height as the fe2's just a softer ride?
I am aware of the difference and sacrafices in putting softer unmatched shocks in the back when I have the sport suspension package in the front and how it is designed as a total package, etc. but I am actually looking for a softer ride anyways given the road conditions in and around my city with my 245/40r-18's.
I will likely end up buying them with the expectation that I can always buy a set of fe2's later if these dont work out well. I was just curious before doing so what others had for experience with these shocks.
