View Full Version : Hello and question justabill 05-27-06, 11:55 AM Hello,
I am picking up my 2003 CTS on Tuesday and I had a couple questions about it. It is equipped with the Nav system and the memory seats, but not heated seats and yet it has the wood grain steering wheel and shifter. Did the 2003s not have the luxury package? Also, does anyone know what wood type the factory stuff is? I've seen some kits on-line, but didn't like them, does anyone have a woodgrain kit they like?
Thanks,
Bill CADIMAC52 05-27-06, 12:02 PM sounds like you may have luxury package, not sure what they did in 03,i have it in my 06 and i love the wood! good luck with the car:thumbsup: justabill 05-27-06, 12:07 PM Thanks, I look forward to the car!
Oh, another question for you guys. The warranty expires in December, does anyone have a list of TSBs or work I should get done before the expiraion?
Thanks again!

Sweet another Long Islander. Maybe we can a CTS meet going this summer!! ChicagoCTS32 05-27-06, 12:28 PM Bill: as for the warranty items, make sure your gauge cluster clock works correctly. If not, there is a flash update for the computer that is supposed to fix it. In most, it does. In mine, it didn't so now I'm fighting with my dealer to get them to put a new gauge cluster in.
The other thing you should have them do is change the grey panel around your rear license plate. It leaks and holds water. Just run it through a car wash and you'll see the water gather in the bottom of the grey area. They'll replace it, no questions asked.
I'm not sure about what kind of package you have... I have the wood grain, heated seats, but no navi. What kind of wheels do you have?

Good info, thanks! I have the 16" wheels, so I guess no sport package, but there is the sport shifting button, that's probably on all CTS's I'd guess. It does have the old panel, I'll call them today and ask them to replace it before i pick it up. ChicagoCTS32 05-27-06, 12:45 PM Yeah, the sport button is on all CTS's up until the 06's (I think) when they switched to a manumatic shifter that basically does the same thing.
The 16's are an indication of a non-sport package for sure. Not sure what to tell you about the lack of heated seats. Maybe someone put the nav in afterwards. Hopefully it's the DVD navigation and not the CD. If it was stock, it would be CD. kali_cts03 05-27-06, 09:42 PM Another thing on the 03 that's very popular is the peeling headlights, I had mine replaced under warranty just last week, some get them re-finished.... search for the thread with "headlights peeling" and you'll get more info on that! onephatguy 05-27-06, 10:44 PM Hello,

My parts manager has a good looking kit. It matches the 2006 woodgrain perfectly and covers more area. You may want to contact your dealer. justabill 05-28-06, 01:02 AM Thanks for all the info guys. Great forum you have here! RobertCTS 05-28-06, 07:28 AM Thanks for all the info guys. Great forum you have here!
Glad you enjoy it here and :welcome: When you take your trip to the dealer, have them run your Vin# thru the computer to check and see what has been done by way of TSB's. Let us know and we'll tell you if their is something else to deal with. Welcome to our Forum!! Anyadike 05-28-06, 10:09 PM Hello,

Well, I'm sure you can call Cadillac for that information, but when I bought my used '03 CTS, I was confused because it seemed my car had some Sport and some non-sport feautures (16" rims on a Sport?). Because I registered online with OnStar and MyGMLink.com, I emailed the mygmlink people, who responded:
> Thank you for contacting the Cadillac Customer
> Assistance Center. I appreciate you taking the time
> to write us in regards to your 2003 Cadillac CTS.
>
> Your vehicle was originally equipped from the
> factory with the CTS Luxury Sport Package.
If you still have your OnStar, it may be worthwhile registering for both websites (checks mileage, maintenance reminders and such).
Also, the other thing I recommend to do is to check in the CTS-V FAQ how to read the error-codes on the CTS. For my '03 you hold down the F1 and F6 for 5 seconds, ater the flashing lights, select which system you want to read first, then scroll through the error codes. I printed out a list from the internet (in the FAQ) and leave it in the glove compartment in case something comes up, or a mechanic tries to BS me. (One note, the first time you check the codes you will probably accidentally clear them - it's easy to do, so be mindful!)
One things I really would like to know is a safe way to buff out or remove the fine chips and dents in the front of the headlight assembly from years of road travel. I hear that those with peeling headlights are getting satisfaction with warranty replacement, but what can I do with what is basically "normal wear"? | |
