View Full Version : How the heck do i change this bulb out? Hi guys,
How do i change this tiny single bulb out to one that is whiter in color.... I can't seem to find a number for the bulb, or a way to get at it. Right now it looks yellowish when compared to the whiter looking silverstar fogs.
*Photo is modified from another post, and is not mine. starfox86 05-27-06, 10:40 AM what bulb are you talking about? the one below the headlight?.if so , i believe if you are limber with your hands, you can reach up there behind the fender and unscrew the cap. from there i think you can pop the bulb out. I'll try it today actually because If those silverstars are brighter, I'll switch them out. Yes, Its the tiny miniture one in the corner of the headlamp assembly.
I think these are them, but they seem too purple;

I just ordered some last night, so I haven't tried to change them out yet. You may have to drop the front bumper... Not sure though. Good luck! Imperator 05-27-06, 03:19 PM I installed 194-style LEDs in mine last week. You just need a pair of small hands, a lift or jackstands and some patience. Once the car is in the air, remove three of the plastic clips on each corner of the bottom engine/wheel well trays. Pull the plastic cover back and remove the front brake duct tube. Reach up and find the downward-facing round cap on the headlight housing. Twist the cap to remove and you should feel the harness and wedge bulb inside. Twist and pull the bulb out and replace with your new bulb--you'll have to do this blindly, but it beats removing your front bumper cover. Be sure to test it before replacing the brake duct and plastic--LEDs are polarity-sensitive.
I've replaced all of the interior bulbs and a few exterior ones with white LEDs purchased from http://autolumination.com/ Thanks Imperator,
What part number from what manufacturer did you order? Imperator 05-27-06, 05:19 PM I'm using the super white clear focused 194 LED found here (http://autolumination.com/194.htm), priced at $2.49/ea.
Anyone else planning this upgrade should also purchase a pair of 9005 superwhite bulbs for the fog lights, since you can take care of both at the same time. what he said, BUT add a couple beers in there and you wont get as frustrated :) oh and one thing he left out was that the bulb/harness isnt that long + I could'nt get two hands in there so your changing bulbs with one hand, thats what the beers are for ;) ChicagoCTS32 05-27-06, 09:01 PM I picked up the 5 LED Matrix style bulb for that spot. The reflector behind it should make it pop pretty nice. The one Imperator used should work very nicely as well.
Imperator definately paid less than me :) rand49er 05-27-06, 11:37 PM ... so your changing bulbs with one hand, thats what the beers are for ;):histeric: Thanks Imperator,
I just ordered six of them... I hope i can also use them for the license plate light. | |
