and i was also thinking about getting the door inserts painted to match my redline body color....:bouncy:
what do u guys think of this, how much would it cost to buy spare of thes parts, and what about putting them back on
i think this would look very sleak and sexy odysseus 05-27-06, 08:59 AM I saw it done on one of those 'Pimp my Ride' knockoff shows on TV on a 300C. If done properly, it can really look good. To my horror on the TV show, they actually showed the shop manager assigning the job to a teenager with spray cans out in the parking lot! He got overspray everywhere, and was ready to pass out with the fumes. Here in VA, we got enough stuff blowing in the air (mostly pollen) that would really screw up the finish if one tried that. It's hard to get an even coating with spray cans with the wind blowing.
If you remove them and have a body shop paint them in a spray booth with matching body color paint, you should be OK. I really would like to see how it looks when you're done. ChicagoCTS32 05-27-06, 09:33 AM I'm with ody on this one. I think it could look VERY nice, but without professional painting, I'm pretty sure it would look like a hack job. I think redline is one of the premium paints, so I doubt you'd be able to find a good match from Rustoleum. ;) gothicaleigh 05-27-06, 11:08 AM I absolutely agree that it is only worth doing if you have it professionally sprayed. Honestly shouldn't cost too much for a few small pieces either. Have them paint, clear, and polish it for a beautiful finish.
Places like the interior where your car is examined up close for long periods is not where you want to cheap out. Do it right and it could look pretty good (and lessen some of the hard plastic look in the process).
While at it, I would consider doing the other pieces that are in that hard grey sparkly material. doing the center stack by itself may make it look out of place (especially in a bright color like red). CADIMAC52 05-27-06, 11:38 AM i think thats NUTS! i love the wood in my 06 cts,to me the plastic looks cheap and plain, i also need to mention that im 53 and have different likes, good luck in whatever u do!:tisk: joeyblaze 05-27-06, 12:35 PM If you remove them and have a body shop paint them in a spray booth with matching body color paint, you should be OK. i got a good leatehr guy/swade guy around my area, i wann see if he can match the body color in die? ChicagoCTS32 05-27-06, 12:46 PM I think that looks pretty sharp. Even without doing the center stack. joeyblaze 05-27-06, 01:00 PM yea i was thining the same thing the door pannels look dope,,
hmmm now im thinking about not painting the dash, and getting died swade for seat inserts anddoor inserts, i think that would look much more caddy, the dash seems alil ricey, ... SoCadillac 05-27-06, 04:31 PM Heres' a take on your idea as seen in the STS-V. They use the red on the console, and elsewhere, versus the radio bezel. bigsef36 05-27-06, 06:20 PM Looks really great ChicagoCTS32 05-27-06, 07:59 PM not painting the dash
:yeah:
Thanks SoCad for the STS pic. That reinforces the no dash paint idea. SoCadillac 05-27-06, 08:52 PM :yeah:

You're welcome. Joey is up against a complicated three color scheme versus the two color of the STS-V and that makes a bit harder to get everything in harmony. joeyblaze 05-28-06, 03:36 AM yeah my next option i was thinking about just getting black swade for the seat insert and the door inserts, make it match the rst of the dash then get a nice wood kit, i think that seems like the most clashy less flashy thing to do :) | |
