...well my grandfather did.

...and it's not what you would expaect.

He'd been looking for a small fishing boat he could launch himself to use in the river or out on the bay. What he found was a classic. :D

It's the 14' Sarasota from the ad I found below:

The company was located in Cadillac, Michigan and somehow used things like the trademark cursive script and even similar tailfins on some models without being sued (that I know of).

Here is one of the top-of-the-line models (which I will probably have to buy for the pure novelty if I ever come across one for sale):

He wanted to paint the sides of it (it's bare aluminum) :unsure
...but I've convinced him that I can come up with a vinyl design that will look better and last longer than hull paint.

I've already ordered "V" emblems for the Johnson outboard. Muahahahahaa.
...and I've been eyeing things like the following for inspiration. ;)

...I'll also have a more conservative design on hand should that turn out to be too... well, gaudy (which I fear it will be, but have to dress it up like that at least once for pics to get the desire out of my head).

funfunfun :D

Good Lord! Did everything in the late 50's have outrageous fins? Pretty sweet boat though, not what I was expecting either, lol.

That is sweet. I've got a 12' fishing boat that needs a paint job and I think just for S&G I'm gonna throw some Cadillac emblems on there too.
