View Full Version : Which Navigation Video Adapter is better? NavTV or Pac?? TheCaddyKidd 05-21-06, 05:09 AM Just wondering which Navigation video adapter is better? The one made by Pac-Audio or the one by Nav TV? I have heard good about both but just wondering if anyone has first hand experience.. also if anyone knows how hard of an install it is.. i know you have ot take apart the nav... thanks for any input.. 2007EXT4ME 05-21-06, 02:51 PM CK, wish i could help you...i dont know much about them. Back when i was researching the new Lexus IS350 i read a report from a guy that used NavTV on his Lexus and he posted pics of him going down the road with a live basketball game on the screen. He said he was well pleased with it.
I havent researched it but according the guy that had the Lexus, i was under the impression that it was just some software you had to load, i didnt know there were mechanical changes that had to be made.... TheCaddyKidd 05-21-06, 02:54 PM I know that both the pac and Navtv and almost identical.. the install uses the same directions.. you have to like remove the bottom of the nav and take out a ribbon cable and replace it with theirs.. supposedly it transforms signals or something so video plays.. 2007EXT4ME 05-21-06, 04:36 PM But you still maintain full funtionability of the Nav when you want it...right?
How much do they cost? TheCaddyKidd 05-21-06, 05:03 PM i was on ebay and the pac one is like 330-340 after shipping.. the navtv was just reduced and you can get them now for like 230 shipped... i actually went ahead and ordered this one.. i remember the local shop that does customizing for all the sports players around here and they said thats the one they use so it has to be good... now i jsut have to find a spot for the DVD player and ps2. i saw one guy that threw his ps2 in the console in the rear bench taht folds out.. i have to see now where i can mount everything.. 2007EXT4ME 05-22-06, 04:29 AM Thanks, let me know how it works out and i might get one also... TRASHAULER 05-22-06, 11:55 AM I have the nav tv in mine & it works great! Rear dvd plays on the nav screen!

Can you post a pic with a image on the screen? bocon64 01-11-07, 02:43 PM This is exactly what I would like to do. Did you wire it yourself? How did you get the rear screen into the nav tv? I just got a 2006 Escalade and still haven't figure out how to get the sound without using the wireless headphones yourgmsolutions 01-11-07, 02:54 PM they both good. but Nav TV has a big advantage
on the PAC piece you have to remove factory ribbon cable completely, and one of the side of that ribbon it's a little pain to remove, espesially for somebody who's doing it for the first time.
on NV TV module, you have to udo only one side of the ribbon, and it's kind of piggy bank design, so you insert factory one back intho that piggy back part.
I have a few of those left, in case if somebody wants it. $160 shipped and comes with dual video input

Mine seems to have a bluish tint to the picture. The colors are not really crisp. Some colors, like dark red, seem to show up a different color. It seems to have a hard time recognizing certain colors. When the regular radio is on, there is always that bluish tint and fade of the color in the corner. Blue is the only color that seems to produce well on the screen. benamaster 01-12-07, 05:49 PM Mine is pretty good quality. Maybe a little washed out but the factory screen looks just like usual. Maybe try to check if all the connectors are seated properly. djmodifyd 01-13-07, 11:56 AM For those of you that did the conversion, how is your picture quality?
