I need a little help, got black SLS and the entire body of the car has a gloss to it except the driver's door.....looks like someone sprayed something on there that strip the clear coat??? How can I restore the lustre....

Would some rubbing compound followed by wax help????

If there is any clear coat on it, rubbing compound will take the rest off. do NOT use rubbing compound. Maybe it was a repaint?

Yes, keep any kind of advertised "RUBBING" compound away from clear coat. R/C was designed for the old single-stage paints of yesteryear.

There are better and wiser experts here, but I've had some luck restoring what appears to be faded clearcoat with a good quality POLISHING compound - Sonus is good, as are most others you might find. Stay away from infomercial darlings like Nu-Finish, though.

What you need to determine is if the clearcoat there has been dulled somehow, or if there is even any clearcoat there to start with - e.g. a bad repaint.

Once you find out for (as sure as you can) sure about whether or not there is clearcoat, there are options we can discuss.

YOu probably won't be able to bring it back by hand, most likely you will need a buffer, take it to a local detailing shop for an opinion. Gary

looking at the door at a 90 degree angle streaks are visible....like if something was sprayed on there and began to run (bleed) no sure if clear coat is existant.

Before clearcoat was out, everytime the car was compounded, some paint would come off with it. This does npt happen with CC. Use some CC safe polishing compound. With a damp rag, apply some of the compoud to the rag, and start rubbing it into the paint surface. If you get some color on the rag, your CC is gone. If it just comes back dirty, but no paint color, then your CC is okay. I would then wetsand, polish compound, swirl mark remover, polish and wax. It sounds more like you have an uneven surface, or overspray.

My wife's three-year old Saab 9-3 vert lost its luster due to some bad dealer detailing, and this is what I did:

1) Meguiars deep crystal step 1 paint cleaner -- this stuff was really awesome. Got rid of all swirlies, and restore the depth of the paint color.

2) Meg's DC step 2 polish -- supposed to add more luster, but didn't do as much as the step 1.

3) Klasse sealant glaze. I found that this product gives about 85-90% of the luster of the wax I usually use (Meg's Gold Class), but it's supposed to last a long time. I applied it six weeks ago to my SRX, and what I can say is that after it rains, even after driving on the highway in the rain, the sides of the car are basically clean after drying! It's like the dirt just "drips" off. I'm going to apply it to my wheels next.

I can Vocuh for the depp crystal system by mguiars...just not the step 3 carnuba wax. Megiuars best wax IMO is the NXT Tech Wax..although Klasse prolly lasts longer...

As long as yuou have a good polish on that paint the wax does even need to add shine..Let the wax protect and the polish shine
