I know this has been discussed, and there are about 100 threads on the internet... all that I have read.

I've heard of a few different ways to install a parrot 3100 bluetooth device in a CTS with Bose, but the easiest ways seem to be finding the resistence on the onstar mute and tying into that, but I don't know where that wire is... or if there is even a wire (I believe it may be serial).

Another way would be to put a relay on the power going into the amp, to when I get a call, it cuts off power to the amp, and mutes the speakers like that. Could there be damage in doing this?

I'm really in need of bluetooth to work in our cars, and had I of known it would have been so hard, I would never hard even bought a CTS. GM seems to make things difficult on the consumer, and loses out every time because of it.

ctsvett (aka Reed) is working on this. Should be functional in a few weeks... if you can wait.

There is also a Cadillac Bluetooth set available (via Cadillac.com). If you don't care about the steeringwheel buttons, than you will get the bluetooth controls there.

Motorola also makes a device you can hook to your visor. Not in anyway the best solution to what we would all like to have, but it may be a temporary fix for what you need.

bluetooth is a connectivity protocol. It is put into some cars for cell phones. it is like the ultimate hands free. it turns your cars stereo into a wireless hands free set for you cell phone

robert, you know what a local area network is right?
okay, bluetooth is sort of like a wirless version that allows seperate pieces of hardware to communicate.
ever seen those people walking around with an earpiece in and talking ? the earpiece is part of a bluetooh network (very local) the cell phone is in their bag or pocket but because of bluetooth you can send and recieve information from the phone without having to open it up.
if you add bluetooth to the car the cell phone can be in the suitcase.. center console wherever and you can tell the car "dial mom" and it sends that to the phone, the phone dials and connects and then feeds the audio hook ups through the car. neat stuff huh.

the STS has this built in.. it also has a 27 node network in the car.

Our computer system is wireless. 3 computers, 3 printers, all in different rooms. SBC provided us with gismos at each item. The main devise transmits
Information between devises. Is that blue tooth technology?

We talked about using Verizon and OnStar for hands free phone service. You had to add a line and pay monthly. Does Blue Tooth eliminate the need to do that?

You've got the basic concept. Your computer system is probably going over wi-fi and not bluetooth. Bluetooth is really only good up to about 30 feet.

The verizon/onstar system is adding another phone line to your family plan and turning your car into a giant cellphone. The bluetooth thing that reed is working on is using your existing cellphone, but turning the car into a giant bluetooth headset.

So your radio speakers and amp is used for hands free. I guess that requires a device hooked to your cell phone? Is Blue Tooth a "Box item" that you install inside of your dash?

Yeah, the onstar microphone is used as the input and your cars speakers are used as the output. The bluetooth adapter mutes the speakers and activates the microphone. Your cell must have bluetooth built in. I'm not sure if you can add bluetooth to a phone as a plug in type of thing or not. Most new "fancy" or "high-tech" cell phones have blue tooth built in. I got my phone about 14 months ago and it has blue tooth built in.

Yes, the adapter will be something you put inside the dash.

Will this work on a 2005 CTS with OnStar and the Bose system?

Here's a response from an email I sent:

Richard, the engineer tells me that the CTS is indeed proprietary and does not use our QCGMCSS-2P harness. I'm very sorry. Howard at Quick Connect

Which one did you get and where did you install it? Do you need both the phone holder and the dash mount? I have the same phone and usually leave it in the cup holder, pita though.

Man i wish this were available, everytime i answer my phone i think about hurting my baby. Any luck in production reed? Anyone have a pic of their plug in hands free sets?

While i am bumping an old thread i might as well ask if anyone has found a sirius GM-1. Everywhere i see is backordered and when i call companies about it they say it is the manufacturer holding it up. No clue for when it may be delivered, but they will still take your money and ask you to wait patiently...:hmm: Amyone that work for GM or anywhere know anyting about this, whats the hold up? Just to bookmark though i found it cheapest here http://www.autosafewarranty.com/detail.aspx?ID=133 chances are when it is not backordered it is going to jump in price... thinking about ordering anyway b/c XM is so bad.

ChicagoCTS32

Reed & radiosandmore.com are working on the bluetooth thing. I'm not exactly sure how they're related, but they are. It works, but they're still testing them out. I think he said it was a month away about a week ago. It's the only good option without putting a big ugly motorola thing next to your shifter, so I'll wait.

so will it be a single unit, or will we buy a caddipod and a bluetooth. i have emailed the radiosandmore about the caddipod still no response, is the new one available now. i only want to take my dash apart once if possible

You have to buy both if you want both. The updated Caddipod will be out soon once the supplier gets them to R&More. The BT kit is being tested by Reed and he'll give a demo to the lucky Cali folks at the D3 Caddie meet.

Yeahhh!!!!

I am so hungry about this... that is the new and revolutionary device that Cadillac Europe install on his cars:

Funkwerk Dabendorf .:: Think Forward - Go FwD ::. (http://www.funkwerkdabendorf.com/produkte/freisprechanlagen/a3000.htm.en)

with a Bluetooth adaptator. And the Cost for Cadillac is about 1200€, more or less about 1400$.

No Steering Wheel controls, no contact information on Navi Screen... really a prehistoric device really looks like a old 80s Celullar. Really incredible...

What's the difference between the onstar on a CTS and an STS? I have a friend who owns an STS and it came with bluetooth. I tried to tell him that Onstar didn't have that option, but once I sat in his car and he showed me.....
yeah, my jaw dropped (lost that bet too)!!
What can we do to get that option and if all else fails is there a way to put the STS Nav/Onstar into our beloved CTS?

I know how to do it. I've done this many times on Hummers. but it's the same concept on all GM vehicles with on star.if someone from SoCal whilling to drive to me with CTS and a bluetooth kit, I'm willing to install it. (no charge) take pictures and diagramms, and post it for the rest of you guys

Bluetooth is built into most newer phones like the Razr. Some factory radios have it built in and some have it as an option like the Pioneer AVIC-Z1 I am installing. And yes that is behind the dash, nothing attaches to your phone.

duh, just realized how old this post is...lol more coffee please!

I would be your guinea pig, except I live in MI. I would love to see how to do this.

Too bad that Reed didn't supply us with any information on how we could do this on our own. I'm pretty sure that everyone else who was interested is pretty sick of waiting around for the testing phase.
