Hi everyone I am not sure if this has been asked before but I am at work and am looking for a quick answer. My 1995 Eldo was in a front end accident. Both airbags deployed (broke windshield) with only minor bumper damage around the license plate frame. I will be replacing the windshield, driver/passenger airbags. Do I need to replace the controller also? Do the sensors in the bumper need to be replaced? I have access to a snapon scanner to clear codes etc... Thanks Jim
I am no expert, that said......
I thought the sensors were placed on the body. The bumper has to take on the 5mph crash with little damage ( HA! ) so that would not seem to be the place for them. I thought I saw on a TV show where they were mounted to the body somewhere near the radiator. (check the service manual).
The show led me to believe that he sensors reset themselves as long as the part of the body that they are attached to do not bend and damage the sensors.
Probably find the bags at THE MENS MALL (Auto Recycle Center) for a decent price. BUT BEFORE YOU GO PLUGGING THEM IN, have someone check the sensors so you dont deploy the replacement bags tooo.
Sorry to hear about your crash, hope all goes well.
