CADIMAC52 05-14-06, 10:40 PM when do you guys turn the traction control on and when do you turn it off? im 53 and not looking to race, just want the best performance possible, thanx Platinum06 05-14-06, 10:42 PM Its "off" as soon as I back down the driveway, I have it as one of my steering wheel presets(#4)....But I'm only 42, LOL kali_cts03 05-14-06, 10:49 PM As some will point out it's good to have it off when you want to quickly get into trafic from a side streeet.... in case your wheels were to slide it would kick in and you would loose power and could be dangerous for you and coming cars..... but this is a good feature and you should have it on, unless you want ot ride fast and furious!!! I also have this set on my steering wheel now, button number "3" closest to the thumb when hands or on the steering wheel.... :) beaglecookie 05-14-06, 11:17 PM How do I pre set it on my steering wheel? ChicagoCTS32 05-14-06, 11:18 PM Go in through the DIC on your dash. I think they're called SWC buttons or something. Under "setup" beaglecookie 05-14-06, 11:23 PM Are you talking about the button in my glove compart? ChicagoCTS32 05-14-06, 11:27 PM yeah kali_cts03 05-15-06, 12:26 AM How do I pre set it on my steering wheel? page 2.14 of the 03 Manual.... "Reconfigurable Steering Wheel Controls (SWC)" c5 rv 05-15-06, 12:32 AM We have a lot of gravel roads. I try to avoid them, but sometime that's not possible. I also have TC on one of my steering wheel buttons and I turn it off as soon as I drive onto gravel. Like said earlier, it can be a life saver when taking off from a gravel road onto a paved one with oncoming traffic. Other than that, I leave TC on. B Hoth 05-15-06, 12:38 AM The button in the glove box is one way to disable it. The other is to go into the set up of your DIC (Push the big button on the right- volume control)scroll till you get to Personal settings. Scroll again till you get to the SWC settings, you'll turn the same nob as it scrolls thru what you can designate each button to do. It's nice to have the fan controls the radio/CD flip and traction control defeat at your fingertips. Depending on your driving will help you decide what to choose. Thats what works best for me. If you use the on star phone service, one of the buttons can end the phone call as well. Hope this helps. RobertCTS 05-15-06, 06:00 AM Mine was relocated to the steering wheel buttons. I use it in the snow and ice a lot. I also use it pulling out into traffic on a slippery surface like sand. Nothing worse than pulling out into 70mph traffic and have your engine throttle back. pjohnesq 05-15-06, 12:30 PM 1. Start engine 2. Sport button 3. Traction control 4. Volume 5. The volume has to be the next step right after the start engine. Maybe the 04 and 05 start up procedure in the manual is slightly different...LOL. bigsef36 05-15-06, 12:56 PM I'd have to say I drive with my tcs off 70% of the time. Unless there's bad weather ofcourse. 050505songray 05-15-06, 01:02 PM this is i get down 1. get in 2. I didn't know you could do all that stuff. Ijust though it was for the radio..... MikeB066 05-15-06, 01:22 PM I think I need to read my Car manual........ I didn't know you could do all that stuff. Ijust though it was for the radio..... You might want to check out this thread because different people were sharing their steering wheel control setups. http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadillac-cts-forum/73255-button-configuration.html I almost never disable Stabilitrack, and turn TCS on and off very rarely. Mostly TCS is on unless I am in the mood to go tearing around like a lunatic. But, come Thursday I am attending a performance driving school and get to go screaming around a track in my own car. At that point, TCS and Stabilitrack will be completely disabled to ensure the best lap times. I can only imagine what the dealership maintenance people are going to think the next time I am in for an oil change and they check the driving history! TagApl4 05-15-06, 01:27 PM I can feel a difference instantly when i hit the TCS button while driving. It is like my car loosens up and says "lets go!" RobertCTS 05-15-06, 01:58 PM You guys with the '05 & '06s have limited slip differentials. Us '03 & '04s do not. ChicagoCTS32 05-15-06, 02:52 PM You guys with the '05 & '06s have limited slip differentials. Us '03 & '04s do not. And that makes me (and my right rear tire) sad... jteolis 05-15-06, 02:54 PM I had an idea awhile back, and some enterprising soul could figure this out, but why couldn't you swap the trunk release button for the TC button. It woild require a little rewiring, but once done, the TC button would be a lot easyer, also you'd have access to be able to disable Stabilitrac, which you can't do from the steering wheel control. Also the trunk button is right at home in the glove box, and lockable. Also you have the trunk release on the key fob anyway. FastCTS 05-15-06, 05:08 PM Great idea, now we need someone to do it. :bouncy: AznPrydeRegalRyde 05-15-06, 08:33 PM 1. Start engine 2. Sport button 3. Traction control 4. Volume 5. Throttle Why the sport button? It's my understanding the your trannsmission is a learning one. So, if you have sport mode on all the time, and obviously you don't drive sporty all the time, won't the trannsmission learn to be less sporty then you'd want? My beef with Caddy is that they never offered a firmer shift button w/o the extended revs. For ex, a sport shift button AND sport perf button. Or maybe a 2-stage button like the TCS/STS button in the glove box. First press gives you firmer shifts, second press adds higher revs. Not that I care, but If i had an auto, Id want the firmer shifts sometimes without the extra perf. AznPrydeRegalRyde 05-15-06, 08:37 PM I can only imagine what the dealership maintenance people are going to think the next time I am in for an oil change and they check the driving history! Check what driving history? Are you saying the CTS records how you drive? tlcmetrokc 05-17-06, 04:12 PM does the stabilitrack reset when you start the engine, so i guess you have to hold the button everytime. i have my tcs on button 1 and does ever cts have the stabilitrac system? | |
