I beleive ya....works for me.

It has been theorized that CTS was catera touring sedan, STS seville touring sedan, DTS deville touring sedan.

but they just switched it to the alphabet soup and dropped the names.

It just looked right since the DTS and STS are from the DeVille and Saville...... and I though someone said that once somewhere so I just went with it....

Despite what Cadillac and others WANT to think its obvious that the "C" stands for Catera.

E for Eldo
D for DeVille
S for Seville

It was orginally Catera Touring Sedan, but Cadillac was changing over to the letter-only names for cars as the Catera was being poorly received. Cadillac claims it only means CTS. If you change out your grille, turn it over and read the fine print embossed on the back. My 04 CTS grille says Catera.

Its funny how peopel think just because cadillac said it means its true. But just think...of course they dont want any reminder of catera in the new CTS. Kinda a coincidence that catera and cts both start with 'c' isnt it? And lets see...the Seville has changed to STS, and the Deville has changed to DTS...so anyone with half a brain can figure Catera changed into CTS. I mean who really cares...the CTS is a great car and even if its a newer catera, its completly redesigned so even to me it does not matter. By the way, ive heard that when taking parts off the CTS, some are stamped 'catera' on the insides. I think thats proof enough for me. Who cares what Cadillac says...they have motive to say it does not stand for CTS.

Well the way I like to look at it is this, the 03 CTS was the Catera replacement and honestly could be called the Catera-Touring sedan. The 3.2L is a remodded Catera engine lets not forget. But the 04's and up have a totally new engine so imo at that point it stopped being a catera touring sedan and starting being the C-series Touring sedan.

What you're all failing to grasp is the fact that CADILLAC names the cars, not YOU. What we say doesn't matter to them. Sure, it was GOING TO BE Catera Touring Sedan, but it is NOT.

its name has everyone wondering, is it a Catera or a C-series....well actually scratch all those names, for naming the CTS it comes from the thought of the Cien, and therefore since Cadillac iintroduced its first in 1902/1903. 100 years later the Centennial Touring Sedan was born, the CTS. The Catera was just a step mom :highfive:
