Other than the cold air filter kits...what else can be done for more power out of a 3.6L?

I believe that would be the exhaust and headers!!!

Ditto that, so far its intake - exhaust - headers - high flow cats - maybe iridium spark plugs. The ECU is the problem as it is minimizing the things we do to inhance it. Hopefully the new gen CTS will have some stuff on it we can adapt to ours. Direct injection is being tossed about(read expensive upgrade). Maybe an ECU that will give us more juice. Unfortunatley the real good stuff that might work on your ride (turbo or supercharger) will put you in near V-money.

I have the Volant Hugger Headers, Bossani Hi Flow Cats, Corsa exhaust. That's about as far as you can take it right now.

what kinda of power gains do you see, have you done the dyno?

SDMarine dyno'ed around 245 RWHP, which translates to somewhere in the vicinity of 300 HP at the flywheel. This was with 20's mounted, cold air intake, CMS headers, high flow cats, and a high flow dual exhaust (don't recall which one. The parts for an equivalent setup will run : ~$250 for a Volant CAI, ~$1000 for cat-back exhaust, ~$1700 for headers and high flow cats.

$3000 for ~45 HP gain. It accelerates like a batouttahell, from what I understand.

:2thumbs: I'm smiling so big thinking bout how fast my CTS is going to be. :D
Robert I know you have shelled out tons of money so far getting and installing parts but what is another $90 to get on a Dyno? Whens it going to happen?

I think you can also put the "little green pill" in your gas tank, put a Tornado AND an Air Razor for an extra couple of ponies...

The key is BOTH tornado and Air razor. The air is going so fast by the time it goes through both of them that it's like a supercharger!

50-75HP dry kit is what i'm thinking....

SDM already has done it my butt dyno says its significant . A dyno is an 80 mile trip. To much work IMO.

doesnt the 06' 3.6 have 255 hp. so adding those things should put paper numbers around 310-320hp? im starting with the cai. i guess the concensis is the volute over the k&n

300hp is a more reasonable estimate. Yeah, volant is preferred on this forum to K&N.

SDM who has all the performance mods, as I do, dyno'd at I think 305 HP at the flywheel. The 2008 CTS starts at 307HP!! With these mods it should be at 350HP:bouncy:

Ahhhh, brings back the memory of the 350/350 day's of of the 5.7 ltr motor (350 cid to us older gearheads)

Yeah Hoth, I still don't relate to the Metric system. I understood 427 Cubic Inches and 6 Packs weren't beer.

Most frequent choice would be a better term or we get into that P!ssing contest again. There are basically 3 choices, the Volant, K&N and the TonyA. All work fine. I think the reason the Volant is more popular is, it's a more attractive looking package, and a bit more HP on the dyno for the 3.6VVT. The K&N is a bit more noisier and likey so allow hot engine air to enter the air box. The TonyA Fram AirHog mod* can be had for as little as $50 and the others are nearer to $240.:)

* Mod is in the FAQ section

nitrous shot.

the volant is just better, the k and n is about the same price but the volant has more substance to it.

If I stick with Caddy for my next ride, the 08 or 09 CTS could be a winner!!!

Remehber us modding junkies will have nothing at first to do until mods are figured out. That could take awhile. Withdrawl to follow.

LOL! Saw the green pill thing on the news. Can't believe how unethical some people are just to make money. The company founder is apparently a preacher! That's whacked!

what about these performance chips i see on the net like g-box or spot. whichever (: these things have at most 2 wires, my edge had lots and the superchips is a programer, any help?

ChicagoCTS32

Nobody makes a performance chip for the CTS except for the Aussies. And those work in conjunction with a turbo/supercharger to the tune of about $6000.

It's a simple resistor that fools the ECU for about 15 minutes.
