Has anyone tried to have a "buy back" done by GM? What about the lemon law?
| View Full Version : For all those with multiple diff failures..... chazman 05-13-06, 11:00 PM Has anyone tried to have a "buy back" done by GM? What about the lemon law? kali_cts03 05-13-06, 11:47 PM Lemon Law in California is only good for the first 18,000 miles and 18 months... and before joining up this site didn't even consider thinking about that.... ..... Someone on one of the threads has mentioned something interesting, it about Magnussen-Moss Warranty Act which I'm not sure what that is but have sent out for info. on it.... I'm on my 4th differential.... and I have been asked if I do anything bad to my car and the answer is - no, I drive it how it's supposed to be driven ---- after all I'm not driving miss Daisy!!! But I don't squeak tires each time I take off if that's what some might think..... but if I ride and need to go, I step on it and go!!! I didn't even pay attantion today, but yesterday coming home late at night I noticed it whinning again after only a month or so after it has been replaced due to Metal which was found in the Diff. Fluid!!!  :alchi: B Hoth 05-14-06, 12:00 AM Sounds like I need to introduce you to my friend Jack Daniels!! :alchi: kali_cts03 05-14-06, 12:09 AM Sounds like I need to introduce you to my friend Jack Daniels!! :alchi: I got other meds to ease the pain away..... :shhh: 2 Da Max 05-14-06, 06:12 PM Thats GM for you... mine went within first 2k miles tarterb 05-14-06, 07:18 PM The Lemon Law is simple within the 18 months or 18000 miles. The requirements are 3 times in the shop for the same thing and still an issue or in My state of New Jersey 20 days in the shop for various problems. tarterb 05-14-06, 07:19 PM Besides mine whined from brand new and I heard a brand new Pontiac Grand Prix GTP and it sounded the same. Typical GM whine. Are any of you hearing more then the standard whine? kali_cts03 05-14-06, 08:02 PM I believe that I had my noise when I got my car but the sales guy told me it's normal on these cars!!! So I didn't sweat it, but after a while it gets louder and lounder so I went back.... first time they said same, just a normal thing, then few month down the road finally got my first one replaced!!! Longest stay for my car in the shop was just under 3 weeks, so they maybe know about the 20 day law.... :) since they havn't fixed everything withing that time and told me to come get my car and then bring back!!! kali_cts03 05-14-06, 08:31 PM The Lemon Law is simple within the 18 months or 18000 miles. But now, is that 3 times within the 18 months or over-all??? mwike 05-14-06, 09:43 PM Had mine for 3 weeks. Taking it to the second dealer tomorrow for the whining. I left it at the first dealer for the day & they said that they could not replicate the noise. This time I'm riding along with the service mgr. My whining seems to come from the front. If it's the diff wouldn't it be from the rear? kali_cts03 05-14-06, 09:46 PM Had mine for 3 weeks. Taking it to the second dealer tomorrow for the whining. If it's the diff wouldn't it be from the rear? Yeah, the differential noise would be coming from the back.... MemberX 05-14-06, 09:53 PM But now, is that 3 times within the 18,000 months or over-all???
