Checking out another 5.7. On the phone story sounds good so far... except unfortunately a repaint which I'm not crazy about. Have to see it in person.

But... seller says car is black with dark blue leather interior. And that it was originally black and repainted. Sounds weird to me. Anyone seen one?

Makes me think repaint for limo service or something, but story sounds honest enough. Guy selling for father in law who passed away. He was 2nd owner and bought it from a friend. Claims it was always black with blue.

Could be, but who the hell would order it like that? you can always re-dye the interior black if you don't like it. If you like it go for it!

Also, if the outside used to be blue, the vinyl top would probably also be blue and not black.

That sounds feasible. A Sable black exterior with navy blue leather interior.

I saw an '86 Fleetwood Brougham on ebay, it was mustard yellow (dark) with Navy Blue leather interior. A real "special edition". (I'll say!)

They made them that colour. The one in the brochure is black with blue interior and I saw an older one before that was like that too.

repaint isnt a bad thing, i dotn know why people think it is...I had ym 87 fleetwood brougham painted black pearl...full acryllic basecoat with 2 coats of urathane clearcoat...sometimes cars paint looks liek shit after 15 sumod years...esp late 80's early 90's when paint was not as long alsting as it was in the mid 90s

Yeah it was awful! I wonder if I can find it on ebay....

Here's a '77 in a similar color. The '86 was a couple of shades darker than this one.

They made them that colour. The one in the brochure is black with blue interior and I saw an older one before that was like that too.

Black exterior with blue interior is odd and unusual. The few time I've seen that combo have been on factory limousines from the 1970's through 1984.

I'm amazed to hear of a Cadillac brochure showing a car with black exterior and blue interior and am wondering what year that was? I have many brochures showing "Black Sapphire" exterior, which is color #28 dark blue, with dark blue interior but can't find the black, color 41, with the dark blue interior. I can't imagine Cadillac advertising that combo in a semi-modern car.

A classic combo that appears every so often is dark blue exterior with a red interior. It's more unusual than black/blue and isn't for everyone but doesn't seem to look too bad in my opinion.

The odd and unusual is fun!

Not exactly a color combination to buy for resale value...

I can just imagine what the assembly line workers were saying when that one came along!

At first I thought that the interior mighta been black, and the lighting and/or shadows made it look blue ~ ~ BUT NO, she's dark blue allright !

For trivia people: That's a B4G code at Cadillac.
B4G = Non Acceptable Color/Trim Combination Edit.

Sandy, that means that the car usually wasn't supposed to be in that color combo, but someone had it special ordered?

Look at the picture of the trunk on ebay. It's all light blue. It looks like someone painted it that ugly gold colour and it didn't come that way.

Exactly 100% correct! BTW, Cadillac is the only domestic manufacturer that will entertain such, and actully make it. Chrysler used to do it to, but only on the Imperial (Code 999) but stopped after 1975. Lincoln also did it (witness my 1959 T-Bird Flamingo color on my 1986 Mark 7) but stopped at the end of 1992. Oddly 999 was the FoMoCo code as well.

You're right, what is with the light blue in the trunk?! The color looks like Flaxen Firemist - - from 83 or so, and maybe this car was once two cars?? Front was possibly Flaxen, back and interior were light blue and one car was hit in the front and the other maybe had a bad engine or was hit in the back and some creative person put them together? It could be possible.

Okay, gig's up! She's a dark blue car originally, look at the underside of the trunk lid & the engine bay firewall. New paint job & new vinyl top.

I would like to own that car if they didn't get it repainted.

It was probably just a light blue car with the blue interior and someone changed the outside colour. There was light blue ones like that. I don't see dark blue anywhere. The firewall is supposed to be black so if that's painted too then there's really something strange going on with this car.

LOOK at the UNDERside of the TRUNK lid, in the pic with the trunk open & up in the air. It is dark blue (known as Black-Sapphire).

Looks to me like it's light blue and it's just the way the picture is that makes it look dark. Everything else is light blue.
