View Full Version : My Fuel Pump Switch Saved My Truck Today EXTadic 05-12-06, 10:55 PM Irony has a new meaning for me. As I was writing the post today some POS was breaking into my truck. They did a clean job, they started by punching in the doorlock which deactivated the alarm.Neatly disassembled the column cover and with a pair of vice-grips rotated the ignition cylinder. They must have tried to crank it for a while cause it killed my battery. Finally they gave up and neatly closed the door and went on their way. I guess I should be greatfull they didn't tear anything up in anger. Maybe they were just pro's who do this for a living and went on to their next target. a $3.00 part saved my truck today. another ads story here?
I dont think his advertising a 3$ part Get deadbolts on the doors. I had them on my old truck and will be installing them on this ride soon. No theif really wants to bust your window unless he knows something is sitting on that seat that he can grab and run. They wont bust a window and then attempt to disassemble stuff. Not normally at least. My deadbolts puzzled everyone, before I shaved my door handles, I had everyone at an audio shop attempt to break into my truck using the door handle, no one could. 2007EXT4ME 05-13-06, 08:38 AM Deadbolts on the doors...that is a new one on me. Do you have pics, part numbers, prices on equipment and installation?
My 04 Avalanche (w/o body cladding) on 22s is clean...but i am sure it doesnt attract the attention that my 07 EXT on 24s will. I want to do everything i can to keep my truck in MY hands.
Somebody started another thread asking what the best alarm system for the best price is for an 07 Escalade but nobody replied. I was curious to see what kind of responses people had..... I had someone punch out my passenger-side doorlock on the Hummer, but didnt do anymore than that...*******s :want: EXTadic 05-16-06, 12:44 AM Hey all
I just wanted to post some pics of the damage done to me truck in 90 seconds. I have remedied one main access piont the flimsy plastic door handle which houses the lock cylinder. I purchased the left side(rear) door handle assy.which has no lock hole. You have to change the linkage over from the orig, as the rear handle is different. No door lock=thief needs new game plan. I understand that a car thief wants to avoid the attention of having to break glass,I hope. jrs05caddyext 05-16-06, 09:31 AM That’s the same thing they did to mine last year. I got the two front door handles replace with some from the rear so there would be no more key holes. BG 03 ESV 05-16-06, 10:31 AM How much do those rear handles and linkages run each? jrs05caddyext 05-16-06, 10:33 AM I think my body shop got them for 60 each. Don't be alarmed as only 2 of 3 mounting bolts line up.The third will only pinch hold the mount instead of going through it. At least that's how mine turned out. Wow, i'm glad they didnt get away with your truck man! That fuel pump switch sounds awesome. EXTadic 05-16-06, 11:53 AM "I posted The kill switch how to" on 05/12/06. As they were trying to rip off my truck. Synergetic 05-16-06, 11:10 PM Get deadbolts on the doors. I had them on my old truck and will be installing them on this ride soon. I think thats what happened to me when I got broken into. I think they were going to help me out by not f*'n up my custom paint job by sticking a screwdriver in my doorlock, and instead just breaking the window. But something had to piss them off when they were inside my truck stealing my stuff that when they were done they had to key the entire driver side.
Who knows... these guys are dumb. I wish they would of just taken the whole truck. Caused me so much damage and ruined a lot of good memories from past accolades and magazine features, and all that cool fame that came with the game.
I'm trying to get in touch with different companies down here in socal who will redo this thing, from paint to interior. I got the ideas, just not a place to drop it off at and I will feel comfortable that they will do exactly what "I" want and not alter my ideas to what they think would look good. Too many shops out there make those desicions... EXTadic 05-17-06, 01:32 AM I think thats what happened to me when I got broken into. I knew a guy some time ago who used to do an amazing job with graphics. I think he now paints motorcycles and helmets I believe. I'm not sure what part of so cal you're in this guy is in the san fernando valley. His name is Jim Tatone Of Gerard custom Design. I'm not sure if he's even painting anymore. His number used to be(818)703-6589. If he wants to take your job I think you will be very pleased with the outcome.Google him,and check out his work. You ever hear of Rock n' Roll Paint in Orange County? One of the guys I work with at Lexani recommended him. I'm going to head over to his shop sometime this week, or Saturday. I'm in Corona (Riverside/OC area), by the way.
I can't roll around any longer with my paint looking as is. Keyed all the way down the driver side.

Tell you what my friend, you're a bigger man than I to deal with such disrespect. I was ready to throw a match to mine, I compare it to having your wife/girlfriend raped. I just can't look at it the same way. Mine was peanuts compared to what those scumbags did to you.I've never heard of the shop in OC but as it is apparent that in the past you have been able to choose the right talent.I'm sure you'll be able to find someone else to bring your baby back to her glory. What happened to your lade? I would rather see all my cars go, than seeing something happen to my girl - and cars a HUGE thing in my life!! I'm bummed about the whole thing but I got ideas that I want to make happen before I retire it FOR GOOD. I had over 27 g's on a written check to my last interior shop but an emergency occured and I had to go recover my Escalade and my money before moving to LA. I lost around $7,000 on that deal, so between that and the incident of getting broken into/keyed, i'm not very motivated, but have a little motivation to fix/finish what I have planned - so i'm on the search for a paint shop/interior shop! | |
