can anyone offer help by telling me the basics of what im gonna need to remove and then do to fix it?so far i have removed the two fans and air filter.i can use all the info i can get.other then its gonna be a pain in the ass cause ive been told that many times allready.ur help is really appreciated,thanx

Here's the procedure from the '87 Deville manual - should be the same.

1. Remove negative battery terminal
2. Drain coolant
3. Unbolt A/C accumulator from bracket and swing out of the way.
4. Remove A/C accumulator bracket from fenderwell
5. Remove right cross brace
6. Remove water pump pulley. Apply tension to drive belt to keep pulley from turning while loosening bolts. Force tensioner into belt with breaker bar.
7. Remove accessory drive belt.
8. Remove water pump (lots of bolts, 17 I think).
9. Remove water pump gasket from block and discard.
10. Clean new pump and engine front sealing surfaces.
11. Install new gasket on pump front cover studs.
12. Install pump, tighten all bolts to 45 N-m or 33 Ft lbs.
13. Reinstall steps 7-1. Tighten pulley bolts to 30 N-m. Use breaker bar technique on drive belt to keep pulley from turning.
