Holy crap! God bless SPF 50! Except, I forgot to put it on until it was far FAR too late. Stoneyford Rodeo and East Park Reservoir have destroyed me. I can't friggin move. I've been dumping aloe on myself for a while now, and my bodies just absorbing it up like desert ground after a rain. Drinking lots and lots of water, keeping hydrated, taking tylenol just so that I'm able to touch my skin to rub the aloe in...crap, it hurts...*hits head against wall* Remember sunscreen!!!

I'm even burnt between my toes...every inch except for my bum and the corresponding area on the front of my lower torso is glowing the most vibrant red you've ever seen in your life. Damnitt damnitt damnitt...I can barely lay down to sleep...but sleep I must, as I have to be up at five am for school, so g'night to you all. Anyone have any ideas on what to do to relieve this miserable condition I put myself in, shoot me a post in this thread!!!

Too late to help Spyder but we can learn from this; my wife is a registered nurse. She started the burn center here in Wichita. The first thing experts say to do is "stop the burning". A sunburn, scald, burn from hot items, etc all continue to cause damage even after the initial trauma.
You should remove as much heat as possible as soon as you can. Either ice the area, run it under cold water, take a cold shower, anything to lower the temp.
Sorry to hear about that Spyder. I think you are doing the right things at this point. If you blister, leave them alone.

One of the best things for a sunburn is also very messy but it works every time. Get a jar of vaseline and before you go to bed rub it all over you. Make sure your sheets are junk ones because it makes a mess. Take 2 aspirin not Tylenol. By the next morning you will be feeling better not 100% but it will begin to turn to tan and stop hurting. I had a wedding that I was in and decided I needed to get a better tan. Well I was lobster red. Somebody told me about this in a restaurant 2 nights before wedding and it worked. I was in no pain the next day and tan by the wedding. I couldn't believe it. It was worth the mess and stickiness.

Aloe works well, keep it in the fridge though, I do, I burn EASILY, and badly.

After two hours of driving round in bright sunlight but tempratures of only 25 C, my left arm was burned to a crisp.

Do you get sun in the UK? I thought it was foggy and rainy all the time. :)

Banana Boat makes some sunburn relief lotion that has lidocaine or some other type of 'caine in it. It's basically an aloe lotion with a topical anesthetic in it. That will take the pain away and also help to moisturize. I keep a bottle in the fridge so it's extra cool when it goes on.

Noxiema. You can usually find it with the shaving goodies. Put it in the ice box and rub it on, it does wonders.

I've never had a sun tan in my life, I just get horribly burned. I feel for you dude, just remember the pain doesn't last forever.

Sorry to hear about that Spyder. I think you are doing the right things at this point. If you blister, leave them alone. In most first aid courses that I have taken I thought I remembered them saying that ice may not be the best thing on a burn, in fact, can't it damage the skin and flesh much like a burn does? Cool running water is usually recomened for initial treatment. Aloe is very good for the skin and may reduce some of the inevitable peeling though from Spyder's description I wouldn't get my hopes up too high there. (Sorry Spyder)

Oh, peeling is a most definate outcome of this sumbit$%. I think its STILL getting worse, and I've kept my pale white/nuclear reactor red ass out of the sun since I woke up. :) I'll have to look into that 'cain something or other with the topical pain killer and aloe mixture. Sounds like the right thing to do. I'd send pictures, but ya'll would just laugh your rears off!

What the hell...here they are...and remember, these pictures do it no justice...its a bit more angry looking when you see it in good light.

And yes, I had to sit down on the sink to be able to get my back in the picture, freak of nature that I am. Also, don't mind that I'm in my boxers...you can' see much. :D

For some strange reason, the back doesn't hurt at all. The front is just as red as the bad part of my shoulders and hurts like a sonuvawhore. My legs are about the same, although they only hurt when something rubs against them, like my damned cat, or when I scratch them without thinking. Yeeup. You'd think I would have learned my lesson years ago. Sunscreen is good! One of those things I always forget about. Death by skin cancer? I see it in my future...

Last time I got a dirty sunburn (stupid sun being out 350 days a year here) I took a nice cold shower and then 2 or 3 oxycodones left over from when I had my wisdom teeth pulled. I slept just fine and it wasn't as bad the next day.

Sun burns suck. My mother used to smear Noxema on us when we were kids. Nowdays I use the bottled aloe vera stuff with topical lidocaine...and I keep it stored in the fridge to give it some bite. Either way it sucks to be Spyder for the next week. ;)

My Polish friend taught me this one....Cold Vodka, poured liberally down the esophagus, will remedy the pain. That and some aloe vera directly on the burn.

When I used to get a sunburn I would use Cider Vinegar. Makes you smell like a tossed salad, but it relieved the pain for me.

Good luck:thumbsup:

Smelling like a tossed salad? That's DEFINATELY not a good cure!

... ...or do you mean the kind of tossed salad with lettuce in it, hmmmmm?
