I put my V on the scale at Etown wednesday night. 4178 pounds w/ me in the car and 3/4 tank of gas. :nono:

So are you saying that your car is heavy or you need to lose weight? I think if I put mine on the scale with the full size spare and me, it would probably weigh a bit more than yours. I am not skinny!

How did the car run at Etown and where there any other Vs there?

I was thinking the same Q. With all that cast iron flipped for the stainless headers and such I'd think it would be in the 3's. I'm going to do as well.

Well, losing a few pounds wouldn't kill me. :)

I got there at 9pm just when they stop tech-in. I really went to see my two friends run their C5's but if I would have been there on time I would have made a few passes. I guess I'm just dissapointed on how heavy our cars are. Their cars weighed 1000 pounds less than mine. It makes a huge difference. There was a new M5 there putting out great times. All I noticed was it had an exhaust. I think it was going 115mph.

I would love to run my V down the track but my fear is grenading the rear end. It seems everyone here ends up with a broken rear diff if they run their cars. Some of us really need the 4 doors for kids. Hell, I would drive my vette everyday if I could fit my kids in it. The V is a lot of fun to drive and one hell of a daily driver. My buddy has broken into the 11s with his GTO and has cam, headers, tuning and gears. I think we could run just as well if the rears would hold up.

Let me know next time you are at the track and I will see if I can make it. I live pretty close to Etown.

I had mine scaled at an autocross yesterday. It was 3,872 pounds without driver and had about 3/4 tank of gas. That's about what GM says it should be.

The company I work for has two certified scales (we weigh trucks all day long as part of our business). I have had my "V" on the scale many times when I'm checking their computer and the average weight I get is about 3,850 lbs. (with nobody in the car.)

Are the measured weights with sunroof or no sunroof?

I still have a red R-1 93 RX-7 and it weighs 2,800 pounds.

In answer to the question about sunroof or no sunroof on my V's 3,872 pound weight, is with sunroof.

How can a C5 be 1000lbs less? They weigh 3250 vs. 3850 for the V.

The 3rd gen RX7 with an LSx swap is a tempting ride! Beautiful car.

all of those are without a driver...

another tip only go to the strip with a 1/4 tank of gas, fuel weighs too...
