so i need a new rear end...i thought the 06's were tough. at least it will only take 2 days at the dealership and not 2 weeks. anyone else have an 06 rear end problem?....now whoever drove my car the 1500 miles prior to my purchase must have beat the crap outta it. :want: the car only has 2500 miles on it now. i did experience whinning from the day i bought it..hopefully that will be gone now!

Do you have an 06 car (sounds like it).

I have 2000 miles on my rear and not a peep, but I have bigger problems with my LS2.

My 06 is fine. and quiet. 5600 miles and broken in properly. I also had the transmission and diff. oil changed at 1000 miles.

so..wow ..what a relief it is fixed. it shifts wayyyy better than before. everything is alot smoother. I had good experience with Val Ward Cadillac of Fort Myers, FL. Kudos to them getting the job done in less than 36 hours.

The '06 diffs don't seem to be any better than the '04-'05 units, in regards to whining. I haven't heard of a cracked case, though.

????

He means it sounds like a Diff sitting on the can grunting while trying to take a poop. ;)

My diff does that during slow turns in parking lots. Sounds like it's pushing so hard it's gonna pop an o-ring!!!

Depressing issue, this diff thing. I can't imagine the level of love I'd have for the car if it didn't have the diff/tranny issues. When/If Caddy get's this car right...it will be legendary.

My '06 diff is whining WAY worse than my 3 04/05 diffs ever did. Yes, I said 3, that is not a typo (It may be 4 or 5 now, I have lost count to be quite honest). I almost feel bad taking it back in for diff whine to be replaced... Ummmm, actually no I don't feel bad. Good for GM, keep wasting your money and my time.

That's a sure sign it's on it way out....sorry. Mine did the same. Tech told me to take it to a parking lot (while it's cold is better), and simply moving slowly in first gear, make hard, sharp turns left and right. If you hear that grinding, it's the clutches in the diff........on their way out. Holy crapola!!!

I have the '06 replacement, and it started a minor whine at 400mi.. Leaks a bit, but otherwise seems to be holding up well, and yes I drive VERY hard.
