View Full Version : How Ironic!! I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-03-06, 06:42 PM Today was a good day. :)
In school, I was helping my friend who I've kinda got a crush on with some homework, just chattin away, having a good time and all. So I leave to go out to my grandpa's for lunch. And as I'm walking to the back of the lot, I can see theres a car parked next to mine thats sticking out farther than mine is, with a longer rear decklid. The taillights look vaguely familiar but I cannot think of what they are off, but I'm intrigued.
So I get closer and I see that this car parked next to mine is a mint condition '71 Eldorado Coupe!!!!!!! Now this is a car I've never seen in Minnesota, especially never at my little community college! So I get right by it and theres a for sale sticker on the window, and wow she is niiice!! It's kind of a greenish gold color, with the same color leather interior, and the interior is as nice as the exterior. No rips or tears in the leather and it's clean. It looked to have 108k miles on it.
So naturally in my giddyness, I snap a bunch of pics on it with my camera phone. (does anyone know how to get them online?) I got a pic of it from the rear with my car in the pic, and I got a 3/4 view of the front right and a view down the loooooong hood.
These '71 and '72 Eldos look a lot longer and sleeker than the Mark III's and IV's. This car looks masssssive even though its only like 6" longer than my Roadmaster, and it's like 5" shorter than a '93-'96 Fleetwood Brougham. Seeing this car just reminded me how much I love this '71-'72's.
Now only if I got that phone number......
Wierd thing is, I found a white on red '78 Eldorado for sale by my school too last week, that was pretty beat up. It was missing the fender inserts and the leather was all torn up.
By the time my friend and I were leaving class to go home, the car was gone. Damnit, I would have loved to show it to her, she likes these big ol' yachts!! LittleB 05-03-06, 06:53 PM To get them online you just e-mail the pictures to yourself. Do you know how to send a picture to another phone? If so, go through that process but when it asks what phone number to send it to, enter your e-mail address. If you need more instruction on that let me know.... I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-03-06, 07:07 PM I can send the pix to the online album, but I have no idea how to access it. It doesnt say either anywhere in my phone. LittleB 05-03-06, 07:08 PM Do you know how to send pictures to other peoples phones? I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-03-06, 07:10 PM Yup, just put their number in. LittleB 05-03-06, 07:11 PM So go through that process, but when it asks for the number, put your e-mail address. Then it will e-mail the pic to you and you can save it on your computer or upload it to photbucket or whatever. I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-03-06, 07:17 PM Ahhhh yup, I got it! Thanks! LittleB 05-03-06, 07:18 PM No problem  haha I do that all the time :D I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-03-06, 07:21 PM I'll post pics later tonight when I get home :) I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 12:04 AM Alright here are the pics:

Here's a pic of my car next to that beat up '78 Eldorado I found for sale last week:
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Chadillac8705/78_Eldo___92.jpg Benzilla 05-04-06, 12:26 AM Buy ONE of them(or two), I mean come on, I just got a Phaeton that I could not afford, now you need to do the same lol. You'll be broke for a while, but you'll be happy!
BTW, your "full size" Deville looks like a Sentra next to those Eldoggs haha. Night Wolf 05-04-06, 12:40 AM Shoulda left a note on the windsheild saying "learn to park.... dumbass...... BTW I am interested in your car" grrr... people taking 2 spots anooys me... not only that they took 2 spots, but it draws alot of negative attention to the car.
I like it, I like the interior on those too. I like the grille and front of the '72 better... but still very nice. Back in Kingston, NY when I went to Auto Zone, I parked the Coupe next to a '70 Eldorado... the shark fin ones... very sweet car... heh, and at that same exact parking lot, when I had the '79, an old guy in a mint HT4100 RWD DeVille, very similar beige as mine, parked, and I parked nose to nose with that car... lol.. since it was on the end of the lot (clostest to the stores) it was a huge wall of beige Cadillacs. I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 12:45 AM I dont blame the man for taking up 2 spots. It's a sweet car with collector plates on it, plus, it was in the back of the lot and the lot wasn't nearly full today.
I was thinking about leaving a note under his wiper saying "Sweet '71 Man!!!! great cars!!!"
Funny how much smaller the '92 looks compared to the '71 and '78. It's just over a foot shorter than the '71 and about 18" shorter than the '78. I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 01:33 AM Wow, I was wrong, it's a '72!
BTW, I'll take more pics of that '78 tomorrow, maybe give the number a call... Benzilla 05-04-06, 01:36 AM Goood, goood... Benzilla 05-04-06, 01:38 AM BTW I thought all the Eldorados from like '71 through '78 were on the same chassis, so why is one longer? all in the fins? I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 01:39 AM Not gonna buy it of course, because I have no money as is with my 16MPG '92, just imagine the damage THAT would do to my wallet! LOL!
I'll post it on here though, get a price and some info and stuff. See if anyone on here wants it.. I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 01:39 AM BTW I thought all the Eldorados from like '71 through '78 were on the same chassis, so why is one longer? all in the fins?
Same chassis, they redesigned the exterior a bit in '75 so it would look lighter and more contemporary, which is where it came off looking less sleek and more sharp/angular. Benzilla 05-04-06, 01:45 AM So they also added 6 inches?

I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 01:47 AM It topped out in '75 at 225 inches. 1971 was shortest at 221.6 I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 04:03 PM This is so wierd. I went to go look at that '78 Eldorado again, just for shits and giggles. I was gonna call the owner so I could take a real look at it, but it was gone. So I went down the road that it was on, and down this back alley by some train tracks and when I was gettin out of this alley, I spotted a navy blue, almost rust free '84 Sedan deVille for sale!!! It was at a real small used car lot, parked way in back behind some beat up '90s F-150s, but this car was pretty nice!
When I first saw it, I thought it was some sort of late '80s Brougham because I never see any '80-'84 Sedan deVilles in MN. But I got closer and I saw that it didn't have the Broughams's seats, it had the deVille's seats! Then I saw the badge on the C Pillar that said "sedan deVille" so I popped open the driver's door, took a pic and checked the sticker on the door and it was made in 12/83! Sweet! It didn't have the HT4100 badge on the side, so I thought it might be the Buick 252CID V6, but it was the V8, they just eliminated the badge for '84. It had reallly soft dark blue cloth seats, much softer and deeper than the seats in my '92. Not as much room inside as my '92, especially the backseat, and a pretty long hood, just as I remember from that '90 Brougham I drove, and it had the skinniest steering wheel ever! I hated that!!
Maybe tomorrow, after finals, I'll go back and drive it. I wanna experience the HT4100 in a 3900lb yacht like this!
They wanted $2300 for it, didnt look at the mileage.

http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j313/Chadillac8705/84SDVHoodornament.jpg 90Brougham350 05-04-06, 04:43 PM How was the body? Oh hell, see if you can get them down a few hundred! Trade in the '92, you know you want a D-Body! More pics! I insist! I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 06:26 PM It was well worth $2,000. As much as I love the looks of these, I'd never use one as a daily driver.
Anyone wanna buy it? The body was really really nice, nicer than the body on my car! Benzilla 05-04-06, 07:36 PM Thats not bad! I paid $2500 for my '83 Coupe from a used car lot with 46,000 m.i. on it, and this is what it looked like...

Now, a year and a half later it looks like this :cool2:

A little cash and a lot of hard work can get you something really special I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 07:46 PM The car was beautiful dont get me wrong, but I don't have a place in my parents driveway for an '84 SDV :( Maybe if I was a couple of years older and out on my own. I could definetly afford it. $2300 is nothing, but if I did ever get one (80-84 deVille), it'd have to be a Coupe deVille. And the motor would come out ASAP.
I'm gonna go back and talk to the person working there about it, see if I can snaggle the keys and experience the 135hp rush! Benzilla 05-04-06, 07:57 PM haha, the motor isin't that bad, I mean sure it slow, but it's worth it to drive around in one of these big beautiful boats... and its still faster than a Talon  I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 08:06 PM Slow is the TBI powered '90-93 Broughams
Really slow is the 307 powered Broughams
The HT4100 Broughams/ deVilles are like an anemic tortiose with three broken legs Benzilla 05-04-06, 08:27 PM I don't know man, my '90 with a 350 can burn rubber from a light without effort, granted the mid to high end is a little light, but there not really slow.
BTW, the line about the anemic tortiose is really funny, I could never really put that feeling into words lol :) I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-04-06, 08:31 PM I don't know man, my '90 with a 350 can burn rubber from a light without effort, granted the mid to high end is a little light, but there not really slow.
I'm purely going off 1/4 mile times. A 1992 with the 350 is good for a 17.1

Thanks, I try :) I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-05-06, 06:11 PM I took the '84 out for a niiice long drive today (pun intended!)
I'll give you the short review right now because I'm at a friend's house, long review to come later tonight.
The HT4100 provides surprisingly good performance for this car! I would not think this thing makes only 135HP stock! It actually felt quicker around town than that '90 Brougham 5.0 with a sticky choke I drove last fall. When I would give it just more than a tad throttle from a stop, it seemed to stall but then it kicked in and wasn't half bad at all. The torque and power curve felt similar to my 4.9, just about 50-55% as powerful, but it wasn't bad considering it weighs ~450 lbs more with 65 less hp and 75 less lb/ft. Anyways, its alright around town but GUTLESS on the highway. I punched it at 55 and watched the needle and didn't see much movement at all lol!
Anyways though, its a very smooth car, probably more smooth than mine on the freeway, but when you go over a bump, you are reminded that it's got a solid rear axle. Very nice seats too, verrrry deep and very soft, the seats in my '92 felt shallow and firm by comparison! LOL!
More to come later, including 12 pics and a drive video!! 90Brougham350 05-05-06, 07:03 PM That '90 you drove with a sticky choke 307 wouldn't be much faster, tell ya what; I'll let you drive mine Sunday if you want! I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-05-06, 07:08 PM That works well! I'll let you drive the '92 if you want!!
Sunday it's gonna be sunny and 74*!! Yay! Benzilla 05-05-06, 07:45 PM I took the '84 out for a niiice long drive today (pun intended!)

Not 'ya see what I'm saying?:D And I know what you mean about the seats, To me they are more comfortable than the ones in my '90 d'Elegance, they have that feel like they were carved out of a solid hunk of foam, very nice. Also, did the engine seem loud to you? I love the suspention, when I go over a speedbump it just bounces slowly, then moves on :) I love it! My '90 has the towing pacgage, so it is HARD in comparison. I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-05-06, 10:38 PM The HT4100 does seem quite loud when you're standing outside of it, from inside it's not bad, but it did idle quite high. I~LUV~Caddys8792 05-06-06, 08:49 AM I'm posting a review in the RWD deVille/ Fleetwood section... davesdeville 05-07-06, 03:57 PM Yeah if I ever got an HT4100 RWD car a 500 would be in it within a week. More if I went with a good build but still. "Its like raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnn."
Sorry. :D | |
