i was wondering if the hypertech unit will work on my 96?i mostly just want rid of the speed limiter & to be able to mess with tire sizes.playing with shift points etc. would be a nice bonus as well.they list it for the chev & the roadmaster, but i haven't seen anything for the caddy.any info would be appreciated.thanks.

I think the Fleetwoods used a different computer system than the Impalas. I'll move this into the Fleetwood section so someone more knowledgable can give you an answer.

Search this forum for LT1 edit: http://impalassforum.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?
It's a laptop program and is considered by many to be the best option. The reason being is as you modify your car, you can modify your computer too.

All you need to know for LT1 cars is www.pcmforless.com (http://www.pcmforless.com/). I would opt for buying your own cable from www.akmcables.com (http://www.akmcables.com/) and having the programming emailed to you. If you spend $25 up front, you can have unlimited updates emailed to you if you make any changes to your car. I see that you found out who "the Man" is, but it may be easier for others to find without searching for his website. For the cost of a Hypercrap, you could get the cable, unlimited programming, and maybe even a cheap used laptop to hook up to. Then you could get Freescan (free, of course), or some others that are available out there at a decent cost for diagnostic work.

Or, if you're just doing this as maybe a one-time or two-time deal, just drag your home computer to the garage or outside for the programming. The akm cable has a 15ft. lead.
