Hello all… I was just wondering if this sounds right with you guys, when I override the ISC motor (ps03 – warmer button) to extend its arm, it takes about 5 sec to extend it all the way out and with click click click noise. But If I command it to retract it’s self, from the extend point, it will take about 2 min to retract it’s self all the way down. Also when it does there is a steady click, click, click noise.

I'm thinking of replacing it but I want to get the members' blessing first.

So there is 2 concerns;

1- the time difference from extending the plunger and retracting the plunger

2- the click click click noise. Again only happens when it retracts.

THANKS!!!!!

It certainly sounds like the ISC motor is failing. It shouldn't click like that when retracting and it should retract fairly quickly not take 2 minutes.

When you install the new one retract it fully and make sure that there is about a .030 gap between the ISC plunger and the throttle lever with the throttle completely closed. Turn the plunger to adjust the gap.

That is what I thought, thanks for the reply, I'm going to search around for a new one. Funny thing is, the car drives fine and it idle fine too. But the clicking noise, is bugging me. thanks for the help..... again.

Here is the tool I made to adjust ISC motor's plunger easily.

Hey HUF and CaddyDaddy,
So do you guys think I should change the motor???

Yes, it is bad. It should move much faster in both directions, and should not make clicking noises at all. Besides, I believe it makes pretty loud ratcheting noises when you shut the engine down.

Always follow Chevelle's advice. I cannot recall any case he would be wrong.

Yeah, it sounds like it's taking way to long to retract. Mine doesn't take 2 minutes!
