After purchasing a new engine last summer for my 2002 deville, ( I got a break from my dealership...only $5,000 for a new engine with a 1 year warranty!) I now find myself needing a new transmission. It now has 101,000 miles and I just think it is too soon to need a new transmission. I can't afford this car anymore. Is this typical? D. Jennings

No. What symptoms is the trans exhibiting? Maybe you don't need a new one, and why did you need to replace an engine in a 6 year old car?

Umm yeah a new engine at 101k ? That sounds waaayyy premature for a N* unless it was severely abused.

And if that's the case maybe a new trans is in order but typically both of those should barely need any attention at 101k
