RobertCTS 04-28-06, 10:06 AM You really should dedicate one of those buttons to turn your traction control on & off. I wish I could turn the radio on/off with one. jonnyd 04-28-06, 10:12 AM You really should dedicate one of those buttons to turn your traction control on & off. I wish I could turn the radio on/off with one. Can I do that!?!?!? I was thinking about getting another button built in an easier location for traction control... im going to scope that out today further ChicagoCTS32 04-28-06, 10:13 AM Steering wheel buttons: CD track forward/backward Disc up/down. Radio preset up/down scan up/down. DIC Buttons: Sound config (bass, treble, balance, etc) TCS, Setup, and I can't remember the 4th one... I rarely use any of them except for TCS... TagApl4 04-28-06, 10:20 AM Can I do that!?!?!? I was thinking about getting another button built in an easier location for traction control... im going to scope that out today further TCS can be set to either the steering wheel buttons or the DIC. I have it in my DIC just because my steering wheel is radio stations/cd tracks up and down and air conditioning up and down. mikesharon 04-28-06, 10:25 AM I never mess with my TCS so I just have mine control the radio. With the NAV you cant program a button for the TCS which kinda stinks. Not to drastically change the subject, but a week or so ago someone posted a clip of them taking off and I noticed a green light on their cluster panel above the fuel gauge what is this? I know the TCS is in the bottom center but I have never seen that green light before. jonnyd 04-28-06, 10:26 AM TCS can be set to either the steering wheel buttons or the DIC. YEa that is what my steering controls are.... air up n down and cd tracks up n down. I will def set one of my DIC's to traction control....lol I have been reaching in the glove department all the time....got aggrivating! THANKS GUYS!! :worship: RobertCTS 04-28-06, 10:47 AM T/C is great to have in the winter too. It will stop your engine from throttle back. If you're a steet racer it's cool to have that button within a fingers reach. I use the steering thumb wheel to select the 3 radio stations that I listen to. FastCTS 04-28-06, 10:49 AM Not to drastically change the subject, but a week or so ago someone posted a clip of them taking off and I noticed a green light on their cluster panel above the fuel gauge (http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/#) what is this? I know the TCS is in the bottom center but I have never seen that green light before. It's the "Sport Mode Light" it lights up when on, auto trans CTS only. Buttons #1&2 radio/CD control, #3&4 A/C heat fan control. mikesharon 04-28-06, 10:58 AM Ahh sports mode I shoudla figured. MikeB066 04-28-06, 02:52 PM Button 1 next disk/preset Button 2 forward Button 3 previous disk/preset Button 4 TCS With that setup and the volume wheel, my hands never have to leave the wheel. mikesharon 04-28-06, 03:02 PM TCS Is just for taking off more or less right? Except for obviously the winter. I guess what im asking do you guys turn your TCS off that much where you have a button on your steering wheel? What benefit is it other than take off? I have turned it off once or twice when fooling with a friend but I just hit the button in the glove box. RobertCTS 04-28-06, 03:13 PM TCS Is just for taking off more or less right? I have turned it off once or twice when fooling with a friend but I just hit the button in the glove box. My business has a gravel entrance onto a major highway. I need to defeat the TC when I pull out every day. If I don't the wheels spin and the motor throttles back and I get my a$$ ran over. If I suspect a race beteen lights is TC off and AC off. The glove box thing isn't efficient and the buttons are there for a convenience..so I use one for TC. Wish I could turn the AC off with a button. mikesharon 04-28-06, 03:27 PM Bah the AC is just to the right! Unless there is a different way to turn the compressor off? Your just talking about the button above the ash tray right? ChicagoCTS32 04-28-06, 03:31 PM TCS Is just for taking off more or less right? Except for obviously the winter. There are often times I need to turn off the TCS when taking off from a light when turning left or right onto a busy street. I've been scared a few times when the TCS kicked in and slowed me down... Rey Rey 650 04-28-06, 03:35 PM TCS.... I dont even know what the purpose of it is.... Can someone briefly explain to me what Traction Control System does or is? ChicagoCTS32 04-28-06, 03:37 PM It scales the engine power back to keep your tires from spinning. TagApl4 04-28-06, 03:37 PM Whats the difference in the proccesses/purposes your car goes through from when traction control is engaged also stability control? (I mean when it is auto engaged from what the car views as hazardous driving.) Is there anyway you can disengage the stability control? jonnyd 04-28-06, 03:43 PM is there a way to permanently remove the TCS?? I just set the TCS button on my DIM :) soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much easier from there instead of reaching!!!!! I LOVE IT!! Rey Rey 650 04-28-06, 04:03 PM It scales the engine power back to keep your tires from spinning. Spinning from what? Should i worry about this or is this primarly for people licing in the snow jonnyd 04-28-06, 04:07 PM Spinning from what? Should i worry about this or is this primarly for people licing in the snow it keeps the tires from spinning along the road....just think of the word "traction". You cant unveil the power with traction on..the spin is wat creates the power...without the spin, there is no power. In snow keep the traction on for safety...if you want to have fun, take it off  TagApl4 04-28-06, 04:13 PM Spinning from what? A life saver on ice!! TCS is similar but not nearly as sophisticated. Bad side is it applies the brakes(pulsing) which is not good for street racing as you can imagine. 2005 and later also have limited slip differential also. I wish I had that on my '04!!! Are you sure?? In most vehicles the TCS doesn't do anything to the engine it was part of the ABS brakes(which I believe the CTS is also) and kicked in upon a wheel spin condition. The reason you slow down, is it basically puts on the brakes for you until the wheel spin condition ends, thus bogging you engine down. It can scare the hell out of you. | |
