What would you have gotten?

If we hadn't gotten a CTS, I'd have pushed heavily for the GTO.

Probably a G35. The IS350 wasn't out at the time, and the 330i is underpowered and very common in my family. I couldn't afford a new S4, so no audi for me. And no FWD car interests me.

With the way the IS350 and G35 drives now, along with the optional G35x, and how bad my own CTS is acting, I'm very close to going to a G35 or IS350.

I'm a GM guy. I test drove a Monte Carlo SS, Grand Prix, and a few SUVs. I knew I wanted something that was RWD, but don't care for SUVs.

I dont own a CTS, since I dont have the means yet. However, my alternate choices would be:

Pontiac GTO 5.7
Infiniti M45 (the 03-04 with the gangster body)
Seville

GTO or the Saab 9-3 Aero Sport Sedan (2.8L, 250hp 6-spd manual).

actually... as bad as this is gonna sound... i looked at a 98 Corvette (or 99 i dont remember now) and a 03 EXT. i forgot about both of them when i seen my CTS. oh and i was looking at an 01 Eldorado ETC and a 03 DHS.

I have a relatively long commute and needed a car with decent gas mileage, so my secondary choices were (in order)...

1. Pontiac Grand Prix GT or GTP
2. Nissan Maxima
3. Acura TL
4. Infiniti I35

My preference was obviously to buy GM. Still very glad I got the CTS! :bouncy:

I seriously considered a SRX, but the wide door sills wouldn't work for us. If I sell the CTS and Denali, I'll get an '06 SRX with narrow door sills.

Test drove BMW 330i manual, Acura TSX before buying the CTS!

Looked at the Pontiac Grand Prix(sold my brother mine after 8 years, trouble free and 130K) and the Passat, god help me diesel. Took one look and ride in the CTS and I was done.

300c until I noticed that the interior looked like a Dodge pickup

We already bought it - a Audi A6 V8.

That said, our fifth CTS differential is quiet thus far - only 500 miles, but the others never were quiet. This one just feels right.

Assuming it hangs in there, we may keep the car as a third. Haven't found any buyers willing to pay a reasonable price.

OK don't hate....but I would've gotten a Chrysler 300C. I also like the Dodge Charger, that wasn't an option when I got my car though.

BMW 5 Series...that was until Chris Bangle utterly and completely destroyed the entire BMW lineup with what he classifies as design (we now only like the 645, but only in certain color schemes and not the convertible); next choice would have been an Audi A6. However, each time I walk past our CTS in the garage, I know we made the correct choice.

When I bought the V, I considered nothing else.

I currently have a Lexus IS300, I really like the CTS with the Sport Appearance Package. If I don't end up with it I'll probably get another Lexus.

- Dodge Magnum/Hemi ( Everytime i look at it i debated if I liked it or not. Somedays i thought it looked cool and other days i thought it was for a fam)

I had always liked the CTS but never thought of getting one until I test drove it. AMAZING. I figured the luxury of the CTS would make me happy for longer than the power of the GT.

I just can not bring myself to even consider a BMW or Audi, sweet cars, but just can not do it. Mercedes, Porsche, Ferrari, etc... I could suffer with any of those. I just believe it is important to support American products.

My 'dream' car has always been a vette. A nice conservative Z06 would be an acceptable addition to the family.

I still like and would consider the new Audi A6 (Would love the RS6) or the G35, M35 or M45. If the new Caddy CTS isnt what I consider on the same level as those, I will be switching vehicles.

I don't do imports so it would probably be the new GTO with the Hydromatic tranny. Black of course. :)

I will be purchasing mine after graduation in May, but my mind has been made up since september. Love the looks of this car. May have considered Acura TL, but it seems like acura just kills their cars when they come out with a nwe model, i feel sorry for anyone who purchased a 2003 TL. Don't like any other GM vehicle in my price range, so i would have gone with an all wheel drive IS, LEXUS is notorious for reliability.

I considered a GTO seriously, but the fact that it didn't have a 3rd rear seatbelt figured prominently in my decision making process. The "box in the trunk", was also an issue, as well as some other stuff.

On the one hand, it would have been nice to have the power of the Goat's LS2.....on the other hand, my Y43 equipped CTS makes the GTO feel like a pathetic pig on a twisty road.

I also seriously considered a TrailBlazer SS, Charger R/T and Grand Prix GXP.

The fact that a manual trans is available on the CTS, combined with it's world class chassis, sealed the deal for me.

HAHA I know I should spend more time in this section. I read a lot of what is in here, but I don't normally post here. Most of the time it is because I can't add anything useful to the discussion....in "the lounge" you can talk about whatever the hell you want...so that's where I am :D I wish I could go to the FL meet too!! Pretty far away though...funny how everyone seems to be from FL :nono: Have fun though! :thumbsup: :highfive:

If not a CTS, then probably a G35 sedan. I bought in June of '05 so the IS350 was not out yet. Even if it had been, the GM Employee pricing made the CTS an obvious value over any comperition. It is disgusting how much money I saved going with the CTS and I am incredibly happy with it.

Porsche GT3, or 911 turbo, but the Audi S4 probably would have been the most realistic buy for me.
