View Full Version : Newstar 300+ HP(BHP) xcorpion1969 04-26-06, 11:55 AM If anyone with the 3.6l CTS is looking to get 300+ HP, mechtech has a complete V6 engine modified for your car, with headers, mufflers, comp. programming and intake included. The price may be high(6500-7000), but if you plan on keeping the car, this would be a good project to take on.

I think maybe when they made the 3.2l since it was the first model that they just threw a chip together to throw in our car. SUCKS!!!!
Good find for the 3.6l though!! They should enjoy it:thumbsup: yomommas 04-26-06, 12:13 PM I hate seeing things out there for the 3.6 and not the 3.2 :(

if it works in the 3.6 i don't see why you couldn't pull your 3.2 and swsap it with this, maybe someone more knowledgable will chip in. nickc50310 04-26-06, 12:31 PM So why dont we contact this company and see if they can sell us some of this stuff to put on our existing 3.6?? What do you guys think about this stuff? if it works in the 3.6 i don't see why you couldn't pull your 3.2 and swsap it with this, maybe someone more knowledgable will chip in.
until they crack the ECU....were stuck :crybaby: look at what the engine is installed in.
its not for your normal cadillac guys, this is a track engine or a race engine with basic tube headers installed.
the ecm is eliminated, it even says so and replaced totally with a new management computer. yomommas 04-26-06, 01:09 PM look at what the engine is installed in.

but, could it work? will it fit? eliminating the ecu and replacing it would allow for unlimited modification, no? well sure, you can go to most race shops that do exhaust and have tube headers made for under a grand. not a big deal. yomommas 04-26-06, 01:20 PM well sure, you can go to most race shops that do exhaust and have tube headers made for under a grand. not a big deal.
why is everyone waiting for CMS, then? TagApl4 04-26-06, 01:56 PM They went with the K&N Air Filter :hmm: they probably dont know better.
and as far as the ecm, the ecm they are using controls the engine only, none of the accessorie type stuff that our regulr road driving cars have. RobertCTS 04-26-06, 03:41 PM Tubular frame off-road vehicle. Yet still interesting work by them. Wonder if they've done any street versions? caddy_man 04-26-06, 04:34 PM And the $40,000 question is whether or not it will pass emissions. estrivera 04-26-06, 05:48 PM And the $40,000 question is whether or not it will pass emissions.
At least here in Orlando,FL they dont test for emmissions. :bouncy: odysseus 04-26-06, 09:38 PM I believe SDMarine dynoed around 245 RWHP (~305 HP at the flywheel). He had Lund headers and high flow cats (from CMS), a high flow cat back exhaust, cold air intake and NO ECM programming. Total cost should be under $3K for parts, when CMS starts shipping their production headers and cats.
Once CMS gets the 3.2 headers out, I'm guessing it will dyno around 225 RWHP (~270 at the flywheel) with a Volant, and Borla.
I find it hard to believe you need to change the fuel pump and the ECM to only get 45 HP gain on the 3.6L. For $6K, it should be putting out closer to 350 HP. A CTS-V is only about $12K more than a fully loaded CTS Sport. And that's putting out 400 HP.
They also have a turbo kit for the 'NewStar' (3.6L?) that would be cool if it works.
