Ok, here's a new one. I have a list of things to replace on my 2000. I replaced the HCV, for the second time in a year, and when finished, I had a CEL indicating a vacuum leak. Also, the cruise control stops working! 2 steps forward, 3 steps back! Ok, back apart it comes, and I get it right the second time! :) The cruise still doesn't work. So, on with the list, I replace a tail light that was burnt out. Not a brake light, mind you, just one of the tail lights on the trunk. Amazingly enough, the cruise starts working just fine!! Did Christine have any offspring? I have never seen anything like this car before, and I can hardly wait for the next chapter! Anyone else had this situation? I think a 6 pack should be a part of every repair! :alchi: Maybe we should form a Catera Survivors Group??

^^^ my gadges started going nuts just yesterday. after schooling a jetta, while excelerating (pretty fast) my rpm/speed gadge looked like someone was forcing them back down, so while i was hauling ball$ my gadges were bouncing downward and all my lights lit up on my cluster. Its done it twice, the 2nd time i wasnt going fast, it just started doing it, i hope they dont all of a sudden go out

It's amazing to me the extent to which Americans sometimes lack understanding of the obvious.

All these crazy electrical problems are caused by metric current. It's a German car and it uses metric current, which is what they use in Germany.

Here in America everything runs on English current. There is so much of it here that sometimes it radiates out into our cars and messes with the metric current. Everybody knows metric current and English current are incompatible. Gosh, it's self-evident. And when they mix bad things happen. :):)

1. Indicator light sometimes stays on
2. Radio has a mind of its own
3. Foglight that only lasts one month
4. Brake pads that sound like their done even when brand new.

Everytime these things happen, I'm sure that a demon somewhere has been exorcised!!:stirpot:

Shouldn't be a surprise though.......... I do have a BLACK CAT
