As alot of you know ive spent the beatter part of my working life behind the wrench ....running a couple shops along the way in the military ....Some years ago when my back gave out on me i realized it was time to really go after the "other side" of the shop. Out here in the civialian world it took me 8 months of hard work , but last month i was taken into the body shop , given a title and a raise .....Then an office (shared with a co worker) , a phone ,company cell phone on the way, hell even a computer .....I now find myself ....on the other side .....

Then the other day .....theres a box on my desk .....Busniess cards ....with my name on them .....I even have a title ....first tme since my miltiary days when i was "2t355a"

Its the damndest thing i ever saw ....Most people prolly wouldnt give a damn about this sort of thing ....but to me it was like "damn i guess i am someone around here" ....shades of that old movie "the jerk" with steve martin

Then today , was the first of those "trendy card swap" things i always used to make so much fun of ....had to deal with a manager at saturn to get a vehicle to use as a "model" for a vehicle i was helping the guys put back together right ....Well , the manager guy gave me his card so i could call him when i was done with it ....then he asked "do you have a card so i can get ahold of you in case we need something?" .....lucky for me i keep 2 in my wallet.....

I guess them trendy people call this stuff "networkin" im gettin the biggest damned kick out of it .....Not bad for a guy who spent the "prime" of his life getting chased by moose in the middle of nowhere alaska ....

Hey Stoney, good for you - As someone twice your age and half your experience, it's interesting what a good B/Card can do for one's outlook.

Of course, with a 'puter and some Avery stock, you can make your own.

Mine say "Jim Hare - now, what was the question?" :histeric:

Just make sure they spell your name right.

Congratulations.. I remember that feeling. It wasn't too long ago for me. It makes you feel significant, all the sudden.. Strange how little things like that mean a lot...

Nice one!

I don't believe in them for personal use, but for business use although I used to laugh at the idea I have since realised they are very important. But it wasn't until I owned a company that I actually realised it, lol!

There's a restaraunt around here that gives a free lunch every week to a random person who leaves their card in this big jar. I printed a few out and ended up winning the lunch last year sometime.

Yeah I'm still a total nobody so that's my only use for them.

Watch the movie American Psycho, you will gain a new appreciation for the power and pecking order of th business card.

Guess you will have to bring some to the Orlando meet.
