View Full Version : Finding artifacts in your car CoupeDevilleRob 04-25-06, 08:01 PM You ever find weird or interesting crap in your car? Like things left behind by the factory or previous owners. Once my power seat motor froze up, so I went under the seat with a hammer to give it a whack and hopefully free it up (it worked). Anyway, there was a ratty looking piece of paper jammed in the seat springs. I yanked it out and its the build sheet! Awesome find.
The absolute best story though goes to my uncle and his 70-whatever Chevy Malibu Wagon. The car was only about two years old and the tailgate was already starting to rust, typical 70's GM build quality. So my uncle and my dad decide to take the tailgate apart and see if they can do anything about the rust. Inside in the bottom of the tailgate are six beer can pop tops. No wonder why that car was a piece of crap, the guys who built it were bombed! terrible one 04-25-06, 08:04 PM In my Charger, on the inside of the passenger door panel, someone wrote "I'm not working on Saturday!" I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-25-06, 08:10 PM I found the holy grail in my Cadillac, which just goes to show Jesus was a Caddy man!
Hahaha Just kidding dont get offended anyone! Stoneage_Caddy 04-25-06, 08:28 PM LETS SEE .....
ok in my g20 i had to pull the rear seat to do some wireing for a car stereo install ...Wedged in the seatwell was a 9mm round and a left mitten for a infant ...talk about getto ...
my first car (the chrysler lebaron GTS) unearthed a ABBA cassette from its fould smelling neitherworld between the seats , along with the vast majoirty of macdonalds french fry production from 1986 to 1996
the other cars never did have anything in them ....
the cadillac has been as one might imagine fairly unique ....about 6 months after i bought it i was pulling pulling the rear seat out ....i found a Hotwheels car ....from that point on i knew this car would be a little diffrent (since i collect them) .....it would later reek havoc with the local classic rock station ....every major task with this car has culminated with the playing of led zepplins "rock and roll"...not requested by anyone .....but for some reason within minutes of being all finished....it would play on the radio ...my parents laughed at me ...till they wintessed it themselves ....i catch mom talking ot the car quite often now telling it to "take care of him"....
i thought i had lost it .... slk230mb 04-25-06, 08:32 PM I found Hoffa under the back seat of my truck...lol Nothing special for me. I pulled up the cup holder in the center colsloe to retrieve something and found a buisness card of the previous owner in my Lade. I called her up to chat, and asked her why she traded the Lade off after only 7 months and 30k miles. Come to find she traded it for another Lade in a different color.
ETA: real estate must be treating her well. DopeStar 156 04-25-06, 09:45 PM Hahaha I got a ****in' list!!!
The following items were found in a rather odd place, inside the glovebox door. The door is hollow, you have the actual metal back part and the fake woodgrain on the front. Apparently there's just enough of a gap on the bottom of the door for shit to fall in there.
- A really old pack of Juicy Fruit gum, expiration date 1990. The gum smelled awful and was mostly disintegrated.
- A matchbook from an Italian Restraunt in New Hampshire My car's original owners live(d) there.
- A really old cigarette.
- A small piece of paper with a grocery list on it.
- Another matchbook from a night club in NH.
- An old tiny screwdriver with a wooden handle, looks vintage. Found it in the glovebox itself.
- An empty lighter under my seat.
- An umbrella under the passenger seat, broken.
- I guess my center hump cupholder/tray thing counts. It came with the car when I bought it and I love having it there. It's one of those old ones you can't find anymore so it looks perfect. Also my CD player fits right into it.
Needless to say I threw most of that shit out with the exceptions of the matchbooks and the center hump thing. I tried to smoke the old ass cigarette but it was disgusting so I threw it out. LOL!
The dealer/first owner stuff was still in the leather book for the owner's manual. I can look up the original owners if I wanted to because I have their address. I also found the dealer's business card, title obtaining reciepts, and reciepts for some work done including the repaint done in 2002. My car's had a slutty history, she's had close to 5 different owners in New Hampshire and New Jersey. She even lived in Jersey City for a while. It's like my own personal Carfax in there. Boombotz 04-25-06, 09:51 PM I've tried to tell my wife that the women's panties she found must have been left by the previous owner of my car. :thepan: j/k caddydaddy 04-25-06, 10:31 PM I found the build sheet in an old 1976 Sedan Deville I had! I still have it, but not the car. :(
I've found tons of change, and bridge tokens in my various cars. One car I bought for $150 I found almost two bucks in change in the ashtray!
Under the rear seat of my STS I found at least a hundred of these dime sized piece of plastic that were either red or blue. I have no idea what they are or what they were for, or how they got there! I still find one once in a while! DILLIGAF 04-25-06, 10:38 PM Best story ever IMO.Have a friend who's dad bought a live mouse trap.Set the trap and put it in his shed for weeks with no mice caught.Got pissed, threw it in his car to take back to store in the morning.Got 2 of those little effers in the station wagon.Kept the trap. http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=28557
The amazing thing is that the car has never been farther West than Mobile, farther South than Ft. Myers and only North to DC.....other than Japan. In 1994, I found a paper bag with some wax paper and a note to someoneone's husband in Japanese in the area near the gas tank where the builder ate lunch {?} in the trunk sometime in Jan 1990 during the build. Infiniti sent me a new set of floor mats for the note.
Me, I once found a breakup letter in a 1987 Chevy Nova. Boombotz 04-26-06, 12:01 AM I found the build sheet in an old 1976 Sedan Deville I had! I still have it, but not the car. :(

Those chips are bingo chips. They use them to mark there boards with and keep track of the numbers called. I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-26-06, 12:06 AM I'm surprised nobody has found used condoms in their cars. I mean thats what you use Caddies for! Well, lets see. In my MarkVIII I found around 500 losing lotto tickets, french fries, 1/4 of a hamburger that was petrified, around 50 bucks in change that was welded together with spilled coke, and a used nasal inhaler. In my Seville I found 20 ink pens in the seat track, I found a jaguar keyring with unknown keys on it and I found 3 one dollar bills. I have them in mine, I just stole a bunch from my school, there was a free condoms bucket. I walked by it and didn't even finish reading the word "Condoms" before I found my hand in the bucket and shoved like 10 in my pocket. hardrockcamaro@mac.c 04-26-06, 02:49 AM In my IROC I found a Tiffany bracelet under the back seat.
Me and my buddy found the build sheet for his 1975 Ford truck (untouched for 30 years, we photocopied it and carefully put it back. Interestingly it also had the carbon attached for the next truck along that was made.
And in the same Buddy's 1996 Saleen Mustang we found a business card for the head of Team Saleen racing. Quick call and it turns out the car was his as a gift from Saleen and is one of only 2 made in Tangerine orange that year.
I've not looked hard in the Caddy, but to be honest it only had 15K on the clock and was mint and there's nothing in the obvious places... davesdeville 04-26-06, 06:52 AM Under the rear seat of the Eldo I found an UNused condom, and then a crayon. I laughed my ass off when I found those two... forget the condom and have a kid.

I found some used condoms in the glove compartment of all places in an old, beaten to hell Tercel. It was at an $88 car sale that I make it a point to go to most all of them. I'd have still bought the car, but it had some transmission issues. I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-26-06, 10:39 AM I have them in mine, I just stole a bunch from my school, there was a free condoms bucket. Hahaha...
Condo....."Holy shit lemme have some!!!!" caddydaddy 04-26-06, 11:28 AM Those chips are bingo chips. They use them to mark there boards with and keep track of the numbers called.
LOL! Thanks! I guess I should play Bingo more often, now that I have the chips! CoupeDevilleRob 04-26-06, 05:15 PM Under the rear seat of my sister's old Grand Am there was probably two bags worth of crushed peanut M&Ms. I pulled the rear seat out to put speakers in and bam, decade old crushed up M&Ms. It was disgusting, smelled really funky too. God I hated that car. mccombie_5 04-26-06, 07:29 PM My Grandad had to remove the door lining in his 1995 Rover 114Gta.
He found a nice array of random crap inside there, a wrench, toenail clippers, a piece of earth wire, and a page from a newspaper dated 1994.
In the back of my dad's Rover when he bought it was even more.
Loose change totalling about £30
Three cans of Coca Cola
A watch
An engagement ring worth about £75 (it was zircon!)
A CD
And thats just from what I remember, I'm sure there were used condoms etc there. caddycruiser 04-26-06, 10:13 PM I pulled up the cup holder in the center colsloe to retrieve something and found a buisness card of the previous owner in my Lade. Nothing in my '95 Fleetwood that I bought in January, but I did get the owner's name & address from the title the dealer let me see. Finally got around to looking up their phone number, but keep getting a machine.
Can't wait to talk to them though, since this was their 11th Caddy (according to the Heritage emblem) and they traded it in at a Chrysler dealership...:suspect: |
