HI, Iam new here and dont know alot about caddy motors. I have a 76,500 and a 68 472 . The 500 has a set of cracked heads and the 472 has a bad crank and a cracked block .can I use the crank from the 500 and the heads ,rods and pistons from the 472 to put them in the 500 block will this work . the motor is going in a 68 caddy hearse that has been gutted to lose weight and for a custom interor. thanks for reading

In a word, NO. You could use the 472 heads on the 500, but CR would be 13:1 and you would need race gas. Don't think you could use the 472 pistons with a 500 crank. Why don't you take the 472 crank to a machine shop and see if it can be machined, or do as I just did and go to NAPA and get a crank kit with bearings for about $375.00+-.

It may be cheaper to find a running 500/472 and just swap. Rebuilds can be kind of expensive if you go that way.
