hello im rebuilding a 472 and cant figure out how to remove the oil dipstick tube thank you oh and what kind of oil pump does mts carry are the pumps any good? anyone recomend a specific brand timing chain? i remember reading in a post a long while back some specific name but cant remember any help is greatly apreciated

Get a Mellings oil pump. That is probably what MTS and everyone else carries.

Get the Cloyes True Roller timing chain.

Good luck getting the dipstick tube out without breaking it. You can try to lightly tap it out from the bottom side. Hopefully the bottom edge won't be damaged in the process. I had a compression fitting installed in the dipstick tube hole. Now I can use a piece of brake-line for my tube.

If you can find a new, cast iron oil pump, it's probably made by Melling. I was told that Melling is the only company making them. A local parts supplier may have them. Be sure to use the correct oil pump to block gasket......don't try to make one. A gasket of the wrong thinkness will cause oil pressure problems.....don't use any sealer on the gasket either.
