With the very real possibility of $5.00/gal gas by this summer (it's already up to $3.50 in some places on Long Island :mad is anybody here going to cut back on their driving, especially vacations. We all know how fuel efficient our Caddy's are. Thankfully, my 2000 'Lade isn't my daily driver. If it gets to $5.00, I think I'll be cutting my 250 mile round trip weekend to Montauk in half...every other weekend!! Just curious.

Hell no. I've been driving more lately. I took a pointless 50-mile cruise around west county this weekend. Good times.

I agree that 5.00 per gallon is unfathomable, but think of the good it will do...

The oil companies will get richer (they need the money...lol)
There will be less people on the roads, more room to wot, whoohoo.
The Environazis will think that higher gas prices will help them achieve their goal of having nobody in a car... not

Everybody will go out and buy a Toyota penis for 30,000 dollars to save 50 dollars a month in fuel.. Toyota salespeople are champing at the bit...

Bring on 5.00 dollar gas (not)

OH, potential benefit:

Less people on the road = More fun for me.

Out here it's $2.99 for regular, it shot up about 50 cents from last week. Higher gas prices = me charging more gas money for the people I drive to school :highfive:

I went out and got a new inner tube for my bicycle. Yes, I'll be pedalling to work very very soon. Can't afford 3.19 a gallon it's jumped up to in the past week n a half.

I'm going to start bicycling again soon too. It's good for your health - it won't save much money because the prices of everything will go up with gas. It's about the only thing we have control over though. :rant2:

Also buy a locking gas cap for your car if it doesn't already have one. As the prices go up and stay up the instances of siphoning / stealing gas will as well.

Gas in some areas in Chicago are already $3.69 A/gal. And rising! I have a 4 cylinder Cavalier that I use for work. It gets good mileage but the ride is something else. feels like I am riding on a go cart! compared to my sweet caddy.

Oh OK, I didn't realize you never take your CTS off your property and park it in public.

Personally at my home you would see a red dot right before the 12 guage slug, but that doesn't work when I leave the car at the movie theatre for a couple of hours.

Hehe, good point!!! You know if someone tries to syphon your gas in Texas you can legally shoot them dead! I couldnt draw on someone in Iowa for syphoning my gas when not on my property.

When you go to the movie theatre, take the crappiest car you have! That way, it won't be a target while you are occupied for a few hours. I wish I still had my $150 Volvo 240 for that!

Cost of a locking gas cap - 10.00

Trip to the movie theatre at night - 25.00

Tank full of premium gas in a CTS-V - 54.00

The look on the guys face siphoning the gas
from the tank as your laser sight hits his forehead - priceless :D

I wouldn't suspect a gas thief would care what kind of car you drive, just that the tank had gas in it to steal ?

Man... my dad's old Toyota pickup had a key on the metal lid AND a separate one for the gas cap.

No, I meant that a thief wouldn't want to vandalize or steal your car if it's a POS! My Volvo didn't have a locking gas cap, so it would be a prime target for gas thieves! :rant2:

Well now that you guys have mentioned it, I guess I should be on the alert for gas thieves. I'm sure if they will still your dust caps they will still your gas especially if they think its premium.

Hahaha I just thought of a gas thief looking at the Roadmaster I owned thinking "what the hell? where do I siphon the gas from?!?!" Haha it was behind the licence plate! I loved that!

My friends '86 Oldsmobile Flint-stonemobile with a rust paint job, missing drivers side window, and missing door key-lock cylinders (trunk too) didn't deter any gas thieves; he did though by chasing the thief down and and sitting on him until the police arrived :D My friend is over 300 lbs. by the way.

Oh, and the car had no working brakes...

I have a locking gas cap on the 75, but I doubt the idiots here would even think to look behind the license plate. Once they attempted to break into the trunk of my 78 Fleetwood, but they didn't know that the Cadillac crest on the back slides sideways so they tried to pry it off with a screwdriver. Morons.

Yesterday I paid $2.69 for regular to fill up Betty. She has a locking gas cap. Today, I paid $2.89 for premium to fill up Cruella. Costco is 10-20 cents cheaper than anywhere else.

I'm going to start working from home 1-2 days a week. That will save me a 44-mile round trip.

Saw this on a bumper sticker today:

My refrigerator is covered in magnets, so I bought this one from StickerGiant.com (http://www.stickergiant.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?screen=PROD&category_code=magfundri&product_code=y7964) to add to my collection.

Dont get the crappy wal-mart brand locking gas caps either... There are tricks to get them off. I know from forgetting the keys and being on empty in my friends truck.... Just squeese the sides and it came right off... then my other friend had one that was a little harder, but it came right off when you pressed down on it and turned it.... And no, I am not a gas thief.
