Or do rocks seem to magnetically gravitate towards my STS's hood when im on the Long Island expressway. It must have something to do with the aerodynamics of the car

THe LIE is the worst. I think it's because of the commercial traffic. I was driving out to the island this week and kept getting passed by trucks carrying gravel or something. You could hear the stuff hitting the car. Try the Northern State better. I usually take it as far out as possible and then switch over by Woodbury.

gotta take the LIE to work in queens every morning. so im kinda stuck on it. i do avoid it on any other ride though// SO MANY trucks just dropping rocks all over that thing.

If done right you can't see it at all unless your are looking for it. Once on you just wax over it with the rest of the car and go from there.

There are multiple installers nationwide and you can find your locals with a quick search. Shop around however as there are only two manufacturers of the film with 3M having the most market share so proce/service play a big part.

There are two ways to go. One is to purchase the pre-cut package for your vehicle. The other is to have it custom cut at install.

I have looked at both and went with the pre-cut. Better cost and less chance of getting your vehicle scratched by a bad install. I have watched and examined both types and the stenciled kits are quite good.

Most companies go with the standard 3M warranty of 5 years. Some.... with the other film offer a lifetime warranty.

Film comes in various thicknesses ranging from 8-12 mil. The 8 works for most applications unless you are running a rig through construction sites all the times then thicker may be better.

Get the pro install unless you are a hobbyist that can really take this on. Also note that price is based on three things; Stencil or custom cut, self or pro install and film thickness.

All of the folks with it that I have spoken to attest to it and so far so good for me. I have my new ride being done in a week or two as well.

Good luck!

We have it on our CTS and unless you're up close during the day w/ sun shinning on it, you won't really notice it. If you know its there, then you will any time.

Took me several days, maybe a week, after we brought it home to notice it.

just curious, will this do anything to harm the paint? i know that car Bras if left on without cleaning usually destroy the paint underneath.

That is one of the major reasons to go this way.

The film adheres directly to the clearcoat and so moisture cannot wick underneath and harm the paint nor can abrasives.

The film is UV neutral so there is no fading to worry about and since you wax over it you have even protection over the surface(s).

You peel it off and wash the car if you ever want it removed and you are back to good as new...

I haven't seen any longer term applications myself (this is a fairly new product), however I have seen a three year application and it still looks great. Mine has been on for 9 months and I am very happy.

What did the application on your STS cost, if you don't mind?
