Hello and thanks in advance for any help you can give out. Well my friend has a 94 cadillac seville and i dont know how many mile he has on the car. Well the problem is that the car wount run anyfaster beyond 40-50 mph , when it reaches 40-50mph it wount run any faster and it starts to heat up. Could this mean that the tranny is mest up?

Is it shifting? Probably the shift solenoids.

Not likely, the solenoids default to second gear and I can get at least 80 out of second. It sounds like it is going into the "engine overheat limp home mode" to me. I think you need to look into the thermostat, the water pump, the radiator, and possibly the head gasket.

So you would say that it has nothing to do with the transmission?

JC, you're probably right.
Mustafan, there is a lot more to this than you told us...tell us enough to give you some good info instead of wild guesses.
Does it shift? Will it go faster cold and then act up? Does it lose coolant?
Read the codes and post them. Look in the Northstar section for instructions.
With the limited information I have, I don't think it's the transmission. If the Northstar overheats, it shuts off 4 cylinders and limits the speed to 40-50 MPH. Is the transmission shifting at all? What is your RPM at? Are you getting a service engine soon light? Give us some more info and we can do alot more to help you.
