What is the best muffler for the 4.9? I want it to sound nice and raw! I just sold my 87 deville AS IS, and will be getting a 93 deville in the next 2 weeks. I parted out the touring sedan because it is a POS. It was repainted silver, was black originally. The seats are cracked, the engine mounts are gone, its rusty like a mofo, so i'm not gonna bother. I took the motor out of it and dropped it in the 85 fleetwood and i sold the tranny to my buddy for his eldorado. But i'm definatly getting a 93 deville and customizing the hell out of it. I want to get that edelbrock camaro style muffler (part #?) that everyone's talking about, but please jot down your opinions.

I almost put a Flowmaster on mine. I think it was a series 40. It's the transverse one that they use on the Camaros too.

The muffler I have on my car. (http://www.procarparts.com/store-detail.asp?sku=UN3023%2D0886MFX&dbname=onlinestoreDB)

Flowmasters are just for noise, if you want performance, look elsewhere.

My coworker just put a Y-Pipe and dual tips on his '91 Coupe deVille. It sounds pretty badass, but a little loud IMO.

It sounds basically the same as any Flowmaster or similar style setup I've heard on a 4.9, but they are a little different. The OTTO muffler sounds a little smoother, whereas other mufflers might actually be a little louder.

Exhaust clip of my muffler the day I put it on (http://media.putfile.com/91-DeVille-Exhaust-Clip---Lightly-Modded), car was trying to die at idle which is why it sounds a little funny.

Performance, staggering. It flows so much better in the top end it's not even funny.

Edit: Here's a picture looking through the exhaust. Could be why it flows so well... :) (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v300/ghostc/Dec27770.jpg)
