Hey there's probably a post about this already, but the forums search feature using Google doesn't work very well and isn't very advanced so I decided to pop the question again.

I have a 2000 Cadillac DeVille Base.. it has basically all the options that the DHS has... except it has the Digital cluster. I am wondering if it is possible to switch out the digital cluster and buy an analog cluster (the one that comes with the DHS as standard equipment).

Would this be a plug and play operation? or would wiring modifications need to be done. And the other question, I know dash clusters usually contain their donor car's old milage; is this the same with the Cadillacs? or will it use my car's computer to adjust the milage?

Thanks!

The analog DTS cluster is plug-n-play. Your only 'problem' is going to be the mileage on the cluster. It's a real nosebleed to get reprogrammed.

Can I get a cluster from ONLY a 2000, or can it be from a 2001 - 2003? I was looking and people are listing them 2000 as a seperate year or something.

On a side note.. if it's a federal violation to change your odometer... I don't understand why the mileage stored in the ECU is not the same as the mileage stored in the cluster. If my cluster had "broken", why should I, legally have to pay an odomter company over $200 to flash my cluster? I mean, I can understand the old mechanical odometers having to swap rolls... but c'mon we're in the digital era now. These clusters should be updating their Odometers based on the engine ECU, not inside the cluster itself.

I don't think the mileage is stored in the ECU. I have a 2000 cluster in my 2001 DTS and it works fine - I would think clusters from 2000-2005 would work but I'd try to stay as close to your model year as possible. The MOTOR manual I have breaks it out this way:
2000 (part number 25745667)
2001-2003 (25755391)
2004 (can only be serviced by authorized AC Delco service centers - no part number).

It doesn't show 2005 for some reason. But like I said, I have a 2000 cluster installed in my 2001 with no problems.

i have a 2003 base deville i also wanted to swap clusters but i was told this is not possible because the connectors are different? that i would have to change the harness?

I doubt the harness is different. LoganDiagnostic was told the same thing but found that they were the same when he did the swap so I know they're the same on 2000-2001s. I don't know why they'd be different on 2003s.

I just picked one up on eBay for a good price. $50USD. I don't know how many miles are on it, but for $50 that's cheap. It's the full / analog style too not the base digital :)

I should be getting it in tuesday.. do you guys have any tips for removing the dash trim in order to gain access to the dash cluster??? I don't want to go ruining the dash trim on my caddy! :D

mine has the actual analog gagues and the digital (reflection) mph. is this what your trying to get or get rid of? just wondering, because i love the fact that i can turn the analog gagues off and just have the small digital numbers dimmed way down at night...

Search for LoganDiagnostic's posts on the topic. You have to tweak the plastic bezel that surrounds the cluster for the 'heads down' display (there is an option to display the speed digitally - it reflects down onto the analog cluster from above).

Also, to get the bezel out search for a post by me on replacing the DIC switches. The procedure for changing the switches also gets you to a point where you can remove the cluster. You basically remove the dash pad and then some screws that hold the wood trim in place.

I got my new 2001 DHS cluster installed! It looks great! I just had to cut a little 2" x 6" square out from the top of the trim bezel and the digital speed / shift position indicator display perfect. Nice LED analog gauges, big and easy to read now.

The only thing I am having is a "SERVICE TIRE MONITOR", and I am aware this is probably because the tire monitor was standard equipment on the DHS models I believe, and it's something I just don't have. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this silly warning when my car starts, or just deal with it?

You mean DTS cluster - the DHS has the standard digital cluster.

The service tire monitor message is interesting because my understanding is that there are no smarts in the cluster - it just displays messages from other modules. The manual says that the 'tire pressure monitor system interfaces with the instrument panel cluster through the serial data line'. The tire pressure monitor system consists basically of just the RCDLR (the remote keyless entry module). The only way for the IPC to know whether the car has a TPM system is through the DIM. If the DIM doesn't have the option programmed (and it wouldn't if it's still your original DIM) then the IPC shouldn't be aware of a TPM. The dealer may be able to clear it. You can also try to disable it by going into feature programming. There is an option to shut off the TPM display.

...

Incorrect, the DHS has the same cluster as the DTS, with selectable analog/digital/both display.

Hello: I am trying to find the proper way to remove the cluster on a 2000 DeVille. Can you tell me how? I can't find the other post mentioned above. Thanks!
