Hello,
I have a 06 STS AWD. When i was cleaning the garage i noticed a wet spot on the floor near the rear of my car. I looked under the car and there is fluid leaking from the rear transfer case(i think thats what it is called) Any one experience this or any other problems due to the AWD?
Thanks Andrew

I have had both the front and rear seals replaced on my 06 sts awd. They started leaking at about 10k miles. I had to take it in twice to finish the job as even after I told them I had oil spots under the front and rear of the car, they "missed" the rear unit. I had them show me the old seal from the rear and I saw no significant degradation. One of the seal surfaces seemed to have a rough appearance but I thought that may have been designed into the seal to cause a "wiper" effect. I asked at the parts counter whether there was any excessive repair history for these seals and of course they dutifully responded "no". However when I asked someone else at the dealership during a "how do you like your new car" conversation, he confided that they were seeing seal failures on trucks, yukons, and suburbans. (probably AWD or 4WD units????). Hope this forum will allow us to get an idea of the size of this problem.

Just got the car back from the dealer. The seals were bad on both the front and rear transfer case. The dealer said they have been having quite a few of the STS4's showing this problem. Thats about all the information i was given. I will keep an eye on the problem and see if it comes back
