Trying to add a simple Edelbrock spacer #2696 (.750 inch) to my stock (plenum cutout) intake. Had quadrajet rebuilt for me. Anybody know why there's 8 holes in this spacer?. I didn't think this was a universal spacer so should only have four bolt holes for my now too short stock bolts. What am I missing? I just put in MSD 8.5mm wires and high output HEI module. Want to start her up on Monday. Thanks.

There were carbs with different base sizes. You could adapt the base sizes too. Forgot which were bigger...maybe AVS?

Seems like it's a squarebore to spreadbore adapter, which wouldn't work with a QJet. Are the secondary bores in the spacer straight holes or are they tapered?

Get out the die grinder and trim the inside out to fit a spreadbore the whole way through. Avoid aluminum dust. Threaded rod is good for custom carbonator bolts.

All set with spacer, threaded rod worked , surprised to find coarse female thread in manifold but cast so makes sense I guess. Thanks

2696 is not what you want unless you are putting a square bore carb on the stock intake (stick with the Q-jet, they're better anyways)

Scroll down - you want a #8726 Or, just make your own if you have the tools - theirs is a wood-fiber laminate anyways. A piece of thick plywood carefully cut out and sealed with a fuel-safe epoxy on the inside should accomplish roughly the same end.

Sorry for the delay but saw a big puff of smoke? carbon? dust? or something after I got her to run again. Gasket on exhaust must have blown out. Not surprised. Going with mid length header from Flash Cad so gaskets going to be replaced. With that spacer though there is this high pitched sound. I thought I had a leaking vacuum hose, can't find one. replaced all the lines anyways,I can even hear it in passenger comp.! Someone on this site said you can use ether? to check for leaks. Any better ideas I have no idea where to get that.
