The ticking noise didn't sound right o ya the motor still hasnt been shipped. Adam 04-21-06, 01:09 AM damn man i havent talked to you in a long time. how did the '59 come out? sucks about your V brother :( . they should have given you a new one but hell, sounds like GM. hope it gets fixed and you dont have any more problems! mallettv 04-21-06, 01:20 AM Yo after 200 miles the cars a rocket... Trust me. davesdeville 04-21-06, 04:50 AM They're installing a new motor over a ticking noise. That seems fine to me. On a cheaper car they'd probably attempt to fix the noise. The noise doesn't seem to affect the function of the vehicle. So all in all a new motor seems like a perfectly fair deal to me. Then again I'm just a regular poor person so perhaps my opinion has no merit when you're talking 100k cars. I personally think it'd take a lot of nerve to demand a new car over a noise. deadringer 04-21-06, 11:50 AM They're installing a new motor over a ticking noise. That seems fine to me. Its my understanding that GM has requested that there be no repairs to the XLR-V engine... only swap outs so GM can see first hand what went wrong with the engines. onbagz2002 04-21-06, 03:39 PM Its my understanding that GM has requested that there be no repairs to the XLR-V engine... only swap outs so GM can see first hand what went wrong with the engines. Yes exactly they said do not touch the engine we will just swap it out because the main cadillac place wants to see whats up with it. About the 59 Impala aka "My Baby" has been chilling i am having a new house built right now and almost done so i been busy with that.. Didnt know having a house builty was so lame... davesdeville 04-23-06, 06:39 AM Its my understanding that GM has requested that there be no repairs to the XLR-V engine... only swap outs so GM can see first hand what went wrong with the engines. I'm actually aware of that, and it's perfectly fine with me. I said on a cheaper car they wouldn't bother with that kind of stuff. soupero 04-23-06, 01:59 PM No shi)twhen i asked for a NEW vehicle they should have givin me one but i guess buying 6 cars from them doesnt mean a thing. I am really thinking i made a mistake and should have spent a couple more bucks and baught a Ferrari.. Jesda 04-23-06, 09:42 PM With a Ferrari you'd be removing the engine anyway for a 20k tuneup. :) harryctsv 05-31-06, 07:25 AM No shi)twhen i asked for a NEW vehicle they should have givin me one but i guess buying 6 cars from them doesnt mean a thing. I am really thinking i made a mistake and should have spent a couple more bucks and baught a Ferrari.. I`m a German and a friend of mine bought a sl55 amg and after the 3. towing of his car he`s got a new one. It wasn`t the engine but the electrics and with the new one he`s got the same thing again. He sold it and picked up last saturday his new Vette Z06 but if the XLR V would be already available here in Germany he would have got one of these. I know trouble on a new car is allways a bad thing but I hope you have your V with the new engine back and it runs great. Harry (from Germany) fast66 06-01-06, 12:38 AM First off...I would have demanded a new car aswell if i had just bought an xlr v and it had the same problem. I had a similar prob recently Bought a porsche turbo s in dec, it had a huge problem with the holding the oil and the water inside the engine compartment, it would keep leaking over and over again and eventually something blew up. I demanded another new car also after taking it in 3-4 times which ruined my 4 week vacation. They did not budge but instead got me an new engine swap from germany. But to make it up they gave me a cayenne turbo to use while it was in for service so i was kinda satisfied. with expensive rare cars they usually wont give ya another one. If it really is bothering you, just dont drive the car at all and try to sell it as new or atleast at a good used price. onbagz2002 10-21-06, 02:11 AM I am still stuck with my XLR-V but now takin my local dealership to court. All of the weather strippin fell off and then a bunch of grease stuff from the truck leaked allover the back carpet. When i shut the car off if u wait about 2 min u can hear a rattle noise from under the car sounds like a loose exhaust lol.I will NEVER buy from that dealership again.......:banghead: o ya when ur drivin along it sometimes wants to cutout and you gotta kinda pump the gas a bit lol.. Its a pos.. Lord Cadillac 10-24-06, 02:25 AM Damn. What dealership is this? onbagz2002 10-24-06, 04:24 PM The dealership is in Amador County here in Northern California.. I just dont understand why they givin me so much problems when i baught 6 New cars from them in the past 4 yrs. I guess they dont mind losing customers. Suicycle 10-24-06, 11:44 PM You bought a car, it had a problem, and now they're fixing it for you...what's the problem? Is the rest of the car faulty now because the engine had a ticking noise? I'd assume not, so what makes you think you need a completely new car? I agree that it's BS the engine already has a problem, but it's the first year for the engine, on top of a new redesign of the Northstar (which is BS since it carried over all the Gen2 Northstar problems), and the engine is still on an exchange basis. It also sucks that you're out your new car for however long it takes to get the replacement engine, and I hope GM caters to you for it (because you deserve it), but the problem is being taken care of, no charge to you (I hope), so what is the problem? onbagz2002 10-25-06, 03:37 AM You bought a car, it had a problem, and now they're fixing it for you...what's the problem? If you read the whole thread this is all what happened so far. I am still stuck with my XLR-V but now takin my local dealership to court. However, I've had XLR's that have had many more problems that I have fixed, and the customers are still happy. It's not the dealership's fault that the car has problems, though, as they aren't the ones that built the car. The only thing they/we can do is fix the problems as best as possible for you. FWIW, I haven't seen any problems like the ones you've described, besides one XLR that had a couple of broken top lines due to a misroute that was done at the factory...:) | |
