View Full Version : Which model? Omega-Red 04-19-06, 09:17 PM Hey everyone
Can you please tell me which specific model and year this caddy is.
As you can see I pointed on the picture that it has leather covered back window part and straight 1 peace front lights. Also what kind of engine it comes with and how many models if any came in triple black?
Thanks for any help in advance

Omega-Red 04-19-06, 09:33 PM Thanks! I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-19-06, 09:55 PM Yup! They're one of my favorite Caddies ever! Great body design, very reliable but they lack power goodies IMO. So, I am curious on these.
Seems there was some era's for these big beasts..
1977-1979
1980-1990
1991-1992
1993-1996
Ok, was the redesign of the 91 Caprice (the new whale body) shared with the 91 Fleetwood/Brougham? Did it get all the new enhancements, and then in 1993 finally get the sheetmetal?
Does the 93 share anything under the sheetmetal with the 91-92's?
Looks can be decieving, so I am curious.... In reality, is the 91-92 closer kin to the 93-96's? I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-20-06, 01:19 AM I have a different View on this
1977-79
1980-89
1990-92
1993-96 sizanjdf 04-20-06, 03:13 AM some of the 1990 models actually came with carbed 307s like in the 86-89 models, it had an optional TBI 350. all 91-92s had 305 tbi and 350 tbi I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-20-06, 11:26 AM Yup, I drove a '90 D'Elegance with the 307. If you're gonna go by engines, you could put the 80-90 models in one category, but I was going by the exterior design. Omega-Red 04-20-06, 01:47 PM Yup, I drove a '90 D'Elegance with the 307. What exactly does DElegance package offer? sizanjdf 04-20-06, 03:18 PM special pillow top style seating, usually different paint schemes I believe. and of course the emblems. Dont remember what else I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-20-06, 03:31 PM What exactly does DElegance package offer?
In 1990, it was:
-Dual comfort 55/45 pillowtop seats
-Power passenger seat recliner
-6 way power passenger seat
-overhead assist handles
-power decklid pull down
-adjustable rear seat reading lamps
-twilight sentinel
-illiuminated vanity mirrors
-front and rear carpeted floor mats
-seat button trim
-specific model identification
-2.93:1 rear axle ratio with the 307 V8 (standard was 2.73:1) brougham 04-20-06, 05:19 PM So, I am curious on these.

1990 is the same as the 1980 ones except for how they look. 1991 and 1992s are different and are more like the newer ones. Omega-Red 04-20-06, 09:07 PM I'm amazed by the knowledge you guys have Is the frame shared on the 91-96's or 80-92? Or?
Just curious on the breakpoints....

I know it was from '77-92. Benzilla 04-20-06, 10:41 PM How does the '90 with a 350 differ from a '91 or '92? you act like its a totaly friggin differant car? I know the 350 gained 10 hp. but thats all I know of. brougham 04-21-06, 12:45 AM Is the frame shared on the 91-96's or 80-92? Or?

I thought the frame was the same for all of them. I dunno. Things like exhaust manifolds changed, which seems to indicate that they moved the engine around in the frame, or the body on the frame.
Chevy did a major rework of the Caprice, new sheet metal, and the Cadillac seemed to only get a minor facelift. But did the body get more of a rework or was it generally left alone?
Like the 90 Sedan Deville vs the 91. They look similar, but they hardly share a thing in the body. brougham 04-21-06, 12:26 PM Like I said 1991 and 1992 is more like the newer ones. A 1992 Brougham is the same as a 1993 Fleetwood except for how it looks. They even have the variable assist steering stuff you wanted to get rid of on yours before. 1990 looks the same but it's more like a 1989. I have seen on the older cars there is a frame to lower control arm to front crossmember brace, on older cars (not sure how old) it was removable, but on my 94 it is welded in place.
The 70-81 F Bodies had 2 versions, a long and short, one connected to the lower control arm to the frame only (had to be removed on some just to change the oil filter) and then a longer one that went all the way to the crossmember. But again, removeable.
If you don't have this on your 77-96, get it, you will like the steering improvements. I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-21-06, 01:50 PM Like the 90 Sedan Deville vs the 91. They look similar, but they hardly share a thing in the body.
How so? I thought they just put the 4.9 in and reworked the hood and grille. Look close at the wrong wheelers. Windshield and how it mounts, front clip is entirely different, engine (similar though), 4T60E vs 4T60.
Compare the 91 Bonneville to 92 Bonneville. Very different, but the basic unibody still was the same. Cadillac did the same in 1990 to 1991, Cad got the chassis first.
They did a lot on them.

I thought it was just the same, except for the different V8 and the reworked front end... creeker 04-23-06, 07:19 PM What does that emblem on the front quarter panel signify,(near seam of front door, toward front of car) I couldn't see it in any of my car books. I~LUV~Caddys8792 04-24-06, 11:00 AM I believe that emblem says "Brougham" Hey Guys,
what is the proper part name of the rear door quarter window trim piece as highlighted above? I need one for my passengers side door. Any sources?
Thanks brougham 04-24-06, 08:16 PM What does that emblem on the front quarter panel signify,(near seam of front door, toward front of car) I couldn't see it in any of my car books.
You mean the thing on the fender? Whatever it is it's not supposed to be there. Someone added it in. | |
