My car is running weird too lately. When I start it up, it seems to spark but, it cranks over very slowly. The other day when I had to leave the hospital in a hurry, the car was cold. I drove out of there slowly because I knew the car was cold but, it seemed like it was misfiring. Could it be the plugs too?

Velose,

It might be. My car was popping and backfiring and felt lean. Sort of bogged in each gear (1st & 2nd) then the air caught up to 3rd but still was not healthy. Basically it was running on 7 cylinders. Check out my Running rich thread -- put new plugs in and voila -- for now:alchi:

Hope this helps....

I need to take it in to the dealer anyway for a new rear sail panel. I'll have them run a check on the codes. If I need new spark plugs, I'll get some MSD or something.

Thanks Chef....;)

All the nitrous guys run NGK TR6's because they are supposed to be the best when it comes to a cool plug.

50.

Working on 3000; thus this worthless post. :coffee:

Maggie owners - factory original plugs = bad. Change them this weekend if you are still running them. The platinum tips on the factory plugs retain more heat than a traditional plug and this increases the risk of detonation. To prevent that, one needs a cooler running spark plug such as the popular NGK TR6. If one is running a 2.6" pulley, the next step cooler TR7 may be in order.

What gap to use on the plugs?

I have a set of Denso Iridium Power IK20 plugs. I'm on the Denso website and see that these will go on a CTS 3.2L. They don't have the V on the list. Do you guys think they'll work on the V? I paid $12 for each one at the time. Also, what is the worst that can happen if they aren't meant for the V?

EDIT: I just did a search for a 2004 CTS-V. I need IT60 Denso Plugs. They don't have 2005 CTS-V on their list.

Screw it, I'm going to Napa autoparts for some NGK-TR6 plugs right now. Thanks again Rick.

What gap to use on the plugs?

The AC Delco's come pre-gapped at .40, My NGK TR6's are at .35

I'm getting some mixed info. Can someone confirm the part no. for these TR6 plugs? Some TR6 plugs are $3 ea and others are $11 ea. It also doesn't help when Autozone, Napa, and Kragens autoparts can't find a match. I know they won't because the recommended plug for a stock V is the TR55.

Also, are these TR6 plugs "resister" type plugs? If they are, aren't they a downgrade over "iridium" stock ones?

You probably want NGK 50 TR6 IX, these are the iridium's. The NGK 50 TR6 is a "regular" type plug. The TR6's (recommended for SC and N2O) are one range colder than the TR55 or TR55 IX.

I went onto south valley florida's site. They are a sponsoring vendor. They had the exact plugs I need for my maggied V. Paid $27.95 shipped. Not a bad deal.

Thanks for your help guys.
