Hello I am new to this site and I am also very new to owning a Cadillac, I just purchased a 1970 Cadillac DeVille convertable for 500 dollars, It has a little rust here and there, and does not start well I guess it's probably due to it has been sitting for the last 20 years, know that I think of it I was only 32 when this car was put away!. It does have that moldy smell inside the interior and I think something got in it and died during those 20 years I have found a couple of little bodies in it as well as some shit by the gas pedal. I have cleaned out the interior a little and got the top to move on it's own, the good thing which I found amazing is that I put a battery in it and the key was in the ignition turned on and everything started working the radio works it's that AM FM signal seeking radio, it has that automatic climate control deal that started blowing spiders and cobwebs on my son when it turned on he was not to happy with me after that haha. Well anyway I have never really owned a Cadillac with the huge 472, I think I had a 63' Cadillac Park Ave with the 390, but anyway I got the motor to spin freely with no plugs in it and I took off one of the valve covers and exposed a bent push rod and some very stuck valves, the other valve cover has a one bolt that is stuck and refuses to move so I may have to drill and re-tap it. The vacum lines have been chewed and need complete replacement, other than stuck valves and a bent push rod the motor is pretty clean it only has 61,000 TRUE milage. Well that is all for now I'll have some updates as soon as get back out there and work on it today.

Me too! I just got a "If you haul it off, you can have it" 1970 Coupe deVille convertible. I have a 1960 Caddy that is 80% restored, so I jumped at the chance to get this 1970. The 472 is out of it and on a pallet. The interior was neglected and the windows were left down for a number of years. Too bad, as the seats were the highest quality leather at one time The car is mostly straight, but I see that the two quarter panels have been finessed with too much bondo. Thankfully, the top is all new.

I will restore it someday. Let's keep in touch on our progress.
