: Break In Period??? :(

Does anyone know what the reccomended break in period is for the V?? And what did anyone of you guys do personally with it I heard some 1000 miles and 4,000 rpm and other 500 miles or what not?? Any help would be great!!

I ran the rpms up now and then just don't hold them there.

I agree, The breakin period is 500 miles and the most important thing is to not run at constant RPM's. I think the manual says to not exceed a certain speed but I have been told just always vary the RPM's.

i didn't run mine over 70 mph, nor did i jam the gas until i had 5,000 miles. then again i drive alot, so it didn't take me long to put the milage on. i have 30,000 now and i beat it pretty good and i have had no engine problems, but many other problems.

I was red lining mine at 200 miles!! As I do for all my cars when I buy them new, break them in like you are going to drive them, that is what they are built for, never had any problems.

you are brave, this is my third LSx engine vehicle. i wouldn't do that unless you want them to burn oil. as my first vette did. Especially with the synthetic oil we use, it takes those rings quite a few miles to seat properly. don't let them seat properly and they will flutter at high rpm's and then blow by...
