I was reading some of the threads about the platinum grille and i am 90% sure i want to get the grille however I have read that the grille only has the White Diamond Pearl color... I have an 06 EXT in White Diamond.. does anyone know if they make one in white diamond or if the white diamond pearl will match.. also if anyone has a part number on the white diamond that would be great.. thanks

okay.. dug a little deeper on the forum and came to a thread that had the part number 12336040... so i went ot gm parts direct ot order the part and they gave me a $90 shipping quote.. can this be right?

I have a platinum grill that I bought from the dealer (Arnold Palmer in Charlotte) and they are always painted to match the white diamond. I love it.

There is only one white grill for the Platinum edition, it is white diamond. I live in Pa and my shipping costs were $35.00, the total I paid was $269.53 grill S&H. I have to tell you though, we ship about 50 packages a day, and shipping costs have doubled over the past year for us. ( But $90.00 is insane :(

For that kind of dough, you might also stop into your dealer's body shop and ask them about painting your own grill. I did my own (used to do finishing) and it's pretty fast and easy. You could even leave your grill with them for the next time they were shooting white diamond, as you can drive around fine without it, though of course it doesn't look so good...

Especially if you could keep the job out of their "system" with some cash going straight to whoever mattered, it might be cheap.

I ordered mine from gmpartsdirect and paid $354.17 this past March. That was for the grille, emblem, and crest. That included $50.27 for shipping/handling and I stay in the next county from the place. They say on their site that they add an extra fee to cover some of their expenses. Even with their extra fees they are cheaper than the dealerships that I called, so I think it was worth it.

Well, heres the pics I promised. I love it.

I now have the platinum chrome grill, chrome signal bulbs, chrome hooks. What a great combination. Some pics show the chrome signal bulbs orange, because I left my lights on.

I know you can see my plates, but I dont care. That plate is no longer valid, I ordered new custom ones already and its on the way.

I need to buy new headlights. Mine looks like sh*t from being so old now. Its starting to have a foggish/haze look to it.

GMPARTSDIRECT's shipping is 10% of list most of the time, since they sell at such a cheap rate, they off set it by charging alittle more for shipping. On some items it is still cheaper to get it from them, cheaper items it isn't because the markup on cheaper items isn't as much, so the shipping makes it more expensive then you can get it at a dealer.

No they are not Jesse James. Similar kind of, but mine is the Mazzi Kranks. Got it off ebay. I know they are not top brand names like TIS or DUB, but these wheels are VERY high quality chrome wheels. I have nothing but compliments on them everwhere I go. It looks even better in person.

and yes, I know i need to lower my truck. That will be this summer

Thanks. It costed $3250 shipped with tires, mounted and balance, lug nuts, etc.

When I received the wheels/tires, I took it to Les Schwab to have them put it on my lade, and it turns out 3 of the wheels were a little off balanced, so I called Arland (the guy who sellls these wheels), and he gave me back $50 through paypal. Very respectable guy. If you email him, he will send you pics of other wheels he has. Tell him David Le sent ya if you are interested.

This guy is the guy who I bought it from. He's got lots of other styles too. He is an awesome seller. He even leaves you his phone # so you can call him through the whole process.

One of the best things about these rims I bought from him also, is that its easy to clean.

Every paycheck I get, i try and buy at least one thing at a time for the lade.

Since I dont have any kids yet, I get to spoil my lade instead. lol. My wife is gettin' jealous I think.

Anyways, I already ordered two 7" headrest monitors too. its on its way. I should be getting the lowering kit and big brakes soon too.

Jess, you'll get there buddy. We need to hang out sometime.

Do you do the body work yourself, DLE? I'm wondering what kind of prices I should look for when getting my mods done. I don't know anything about cars/body work so I have to go to a shop, and I don't want to get taken advantage of. I'm mainly curious about the chrome grille, chrome tow hooks, and chrome turn signal bulbs.

Well I was just thinking of the chrome grille, chrome tow hooks, chrome turn signal bulbs, and replacing my stock lights with HIDs (I have an '02, completely stock)

I've been thinking about California Wheels in San Jose, they seem like decent people, but I haven't been down there to price some of these mods. I also want to talk to them about warranty and stuff like that. Basically I don't want to go somewhere that I'll have to keep coming back to, or in a week I find that they wired the lights poorly and my stereo shorts out, etc.

It is really easy to install new chrome grill (if its the platinum grill where it doesnt require cutting), chrome tow hooks, and chrome turn signal bulbs. Those three are fairly easy to do. Just order/buy them, and we can walk you step by step how to install them. Just email me and I will help you out how to do it. davidle98664@yahoo.com

I'm not interested in an aftermarket grille but thanks, Synergetic. If I replace the grille it will be with the chrome one from the Platnium edition. I just dig the stock grille look, but want to chrome it out... Also, what's your buddy's shop?

And DLE (or anyone else), could you give me a step by step on replacing the grille? I'd like to know what it's like before I commit to doing it myself. If it's just a matter of unscrewing it and pulling it out, I can do that... But anything more and I might have to go to a shop to do it.

Couldn't you just give me a quick rundown here? I'm not ready to install it anyway, and theoretically, if you post it on here and there's an easier way, or if you're doing something wrong, someone could point it out.

Some sugar on that please?

Its not hard, its pointless to even make a run down. If you can open the hood and hold a wrench, i'm sure you can swap a grille.

DLE
04-21-06, 11:31 AM
#1. Open hood

#2. Get a flathead screwdriver

#3. Pop off 11 plastic screw caps that are holding the plastic cover on, on top of the grill.

#4. Once you take off the 11 plastic screw caps, the whole cover should come off

#5. Take a 10mm socket, and in the middle should have the bolt for you to take off. (Only 1 bolt)

#6. Pop both sides of the grill out towards you. (it should pop out).

#7. Pull the grill up and you're DONE!

Easy.

What color is your car? Painting your mirrors should be something simple. You should be able to drop your truck off and get them painted within a day or two.

Relating to a grille. I have an E&G Classic Vertical Grille on my 2005 Escalade and I noticed the grille is a bit uneven. The right side of the grille sticks out a little more than the left. It really isn't noticeable unless you look ridiculously close. I noticed that you posted how to remove the grille, so do you think it is easy to make it even?

Thanks.

i'll see if it is any cheaper.

You should be able to get a better price at the dealer. I'm sure GM Parts Direct makes some money off of the shipping. Let us know what you actually end up paying. Personally, I would like to see the difference.

Thanks.
