Well we have driven the new STS about a 1000 miles. Since the car is awd it is supposed to have high performance pads on it. I don't know what kind they are but the brake dust is terrible. You can clean your wheels one day and after driving it several miles they are filthy the next day. I have never seen the dust this bad. I have ceramic pads on my 94 and also use a product called rejex. Makes me believe that the pads on the 06 are cheap. Just venting a little but this is mild to what am going to say to my dealer who I have been doimg business with for many years.

That may explain the 20-25k pad life a lot of STS drivers are reporting. I personally dont mind dusty pads, as they tend to extend rotor life.

I bought Raybestos ceramic pads and they didn't do a very good job at preventing dust buildup. I'm going to splurge and spend $75 for dust shields. My wheels look horrible with all the black dust--it's ridiculous. Another thing, cheap pads don't handle heat as well as quality pads--I learned that lesson. Quality pads and dust shields should do the trick.

New brakes always produce a lot of dust. After another thousand miles or so and it won't be so bad.

A lot of dust, but the brakes on the v are fantastic.

Just posting that my pads are squealing, I would have to agree that the cheap factory pads are causing all the brake dust. My 03 CTS had brake dust, but nothing like this STS.
